Sorry guys, this is our second year staying at the Dun Cow for one nights stay. You are always given a warm welcome but it's the bedrooms that really lets the Dun Cow down, therefore my review is solely based on its status as an hotel rather than a restaurant as I think that the meals are excellent. We stayed... More

Brought friends for dinner here on Saturday night as my Husband and I have been several times and the food has been very nice. However, I should have remembered that they didn't have what I was looking forward to on the menu last time! I made my choice quite early and chose a dish that I'd really enjoyed previously and... Great Friday night food. Lovely menu. Tried deep fried squid rings, a bit chewy, but much better than I was expecting. Lovely salt and pepper chicken. We also had pulled pork which was lovely and pork stroganoff. Homemade chips are great. Always a friendly welcome from the staff. The range of real ales is a treat.

When will chefs / cooks learn that fish should be served with crispy batter. Went here recently and the so called batter was just so soggy, very poor, so make sure if youi do ask for fish, ask that the batter is crisp.

We have been to the Dun Cow many times as the food is always good but have never been seated in the snug by the kitchen door before, the door squeeks every time it is opened and only stops when it bangs closed, it is a fairly large restaurant and very busy on a Saturday night which means the door... I went for a meal at the Dun Cow and ordered the cod. I eat cod everywhere, It was spongy and wet. I sent it back to the kitchen. I was then approached by the manager who told me I was wrong and there was nothing at all wrong with the fish. I tried to explain Yes it looked nice... More

We had a party of 27 people to celebrate a young relatives 18th birthday. We pre ordered our food and it was served perfectly. My starter of Moulle Mariniere was perfectly cooked and tasted sensational. My main of roast topside was again, perfect with an exceptional Yorkshire pudding. Service was 1st class without hitch. We would certainly eat here again.

My family and I come for Sunday lunch at least once a month. The dinners are amazing. Its always busy in the bar so sometimes you have to wait for a table but food comes out within 5 minutes. The offer a small portion of the lunch which is huge itself. Homemade yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes. Staff friendly and... More
