We stayed here for two nights. It is located in National Park Village but if you do not have a car, it's about a 10-15 minute walk to the cafe / 4 square in the front of the village. There seemed to be a few closed (seasonal?) restaurants right around the place but for the most part nothing in the... More

Good room, with good shower and average heating. We arrived after reception was closed, but they could accomodate us with no problem. Kitchen is large and well equiped. Silence is incredible! We could sleep listening only the wind outside. Staff is very carefull about security for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. They checked our equipment and lended me gloves and hats,... More

Stayed one night in a twin room. Beds were short (I am not very tall) and really squishy which I don't like. Enough space to store things. The room we had was right next to the kitchen which was a good size but we didn't sleep well as a group were drinking in the kitchen until the early hours and... More

This place is perfect if you are doing the tongariro alpine crossing (the pick up location is just around the corner). They have free parking spots and the haus is cozy, warm and nice with confortable beds and extra hot showers. There is a big common area where you can watch tv, read a book getting wormed in front of... More

Awesome and friendly staff, a wood fireplace free to use at any time, and a huge rec room with all you could ask for in a public space. Board games, pool table, books, tv, puzzles, and that fireplace! Super cosy spot and was glad to spend a couple of nights here when it was pouring rain outside. No free tea... More

I liked it. It had a bit of character and it did the trick. Very cheap and practical. The girl who works and the reception and basically you see working around the hostel all the time, is fab. Very friendly and happy to help. Free pool is an awesome bonus. Bad WiFi is the only con.

I choose here for our two nights while doing the Tongariro Crossing. It was perfect. It is a hostel. Clean, good kitchen and we had our own room. It cost NZ$68 per night. It is a lot cheaper if you share one of the bunk rooms. The hostel also organised transport to and from the crossing for a cost of... More

We enjoyed our stay at Ski Haus. It was the right place to stay for Tongariro Crossing! They really cared about us and gave us all information we needed for Tongariro Crossing and updated us regularly about the weather conditions and if the track was passable. Nice and clean facilities, big kitchen. Hot showers and warm rooms except for the... More

Absolutely fine little hostel with some great facilities. Slept in a six bed dorm and was very comfortable, though could use some shelving for the top bunks to store water/alarm as beds are slatted so fall through easily! Staff were very pleasant and helpful, although reception does open a little late so if you're wanting help before a long day... More

The hostel was expensive for what you got. It was really cold everywhere and the owner was not very helpful. And also you had to pay for the linen. The wifi was bad and the tea towels were wet all the time. No space in the fridge because all the space is for the crew. Very BAD!

Hi Suzan, Ski Haus is one of the most affordable accommodations in the National Park Village, with beds starting from $21. All beds have fitted sheets, and have linen and duvet included in the price. Only customers wishing to save further $2 are not provided with linen and duvet, which I believe was your choice during your stay. Wifi is... More
