My husband and I loved doing the Tongariro Crossing, it was truly the highlight of our New Zealand trip, We did not pick a good place to stay though. This lodge was not well kept, The owners wife was actually very rude to us, The heater in the room was not working, the room itself was very dusty and dirty... More

We stay here when doing business in Taumarunui as the service and value is so much better. Nice suites and very friendly and good service from the owner. Breakfast is very good with a wide range of choices. When I have been in a rush the owner has come out to me when I am in huge car to give... More

What an amazing adventure for both me and the children We set off at 7am and it took us 7 hours. The hike was reasonably challenging for me at my age, but the children had no problems and had lots of fun on the way. Lots of steps up and down, with views that have to be experienced. The photo's... More

A great place to stay for the Tongariro park area and doing the crossing walk. Staff very pleasant and very helpful for planning your days. Room was very comfortable with separate lounge and kitchen area and sveral good places to eat in the evening. To start the day try the Kiwi breakfast at the local cafe. If you are doing... More

I stayed there on my own in January. It is perfectly situated in National Park. Many restaurants around and only a short drive to Tongariro to do the Crossing. I was traveling on my own and I stayed in the "Executive Suite". It was very comfortable and clean. There was a TV in the bedroom as well as one in... More

We stayed here for two nights and loved it. We had a self contained unit that made it easy for the three of us to deal with gear for the Tongariro Crossing one of the days. The garden is beautiful and my nephew really loved the little swing outside the door. The owners could not have been more helpful or... More

We stumbled across this place by accident, we were lucky!! The owner is a great guy, very chatty, and knowledgeable. He had lots of tips about the crossing, and the local area. He also had a great recommendation on a place for dinner & a place for drinks! We would go back with out a shadow of a doubt

Being our first trip to New Zealand (November, 2011), visiting the volcanic plateau was a must. My research (and trip advisor reviews) led to my making reservations at the Tongariro Crossing Lodge. What a perfect decision! Our trip to the plateau from Wellington began with a delightful train ride to National Park. Upon arrival, we were greeted at the station... More

I guess if you are looking for the typical motel-type accommodation, you have come to the wrong place. This is a lovely quiet guest-house type of residence, with a number of rooms spread across two buildings in the remote Tongaririo National Park. I believe it is described as colonial, which is about right. One of the benefits of such a... More

My mate and I stayed here for two nights and loved our experience here. Col cannot be any friendlier and helpful to make your experience better. My mate forgot to bring gloves and water and he gave us both! Then he and his wife told us where to get a great dinner and set up a reservation for us. Really... More
