After reading numerous reviews about the Snow Hotel I was very wary about spending the night - almost to the point of cancelling altogether! I'm so glad we went. We spent 1 night at the Snow Hotel in January 2014 as part of an Inghams package. The 2hr transfer by snow mobile was a bit much. Considering the temperature was... More

As long as you go knowing what to expect, it is an amazing experience. It is not a 5* luxury hotel. It is a hotel made out of ice and snow - incredibly well! The sleeping bags provided were incredibly warm, I am unsure how anyone could get cold in them them! Staying there was a real experience.

We stayed with two families. The ride on snow scooter is 45km and takes about 2 hours and is fun. The snow part of te hotel is nice the fixed part is poor. Dinner in the icebar is really special. bedtime is set at 22:00. Make sure you have what you need since you are locked in and have no... More

My wife and I spent a night in the Lainio Snow Village in one of the igloo-like snow rooms. We arrived at about 7.00 in the evening and had a tour of the snow village. It is a spectacular place built out of snow with furniture and features carved out of ice. The clever use of lighting adds a terrific... More

We went to the Snow Hotel a few weeks ago as part of our tour itinerary. Definitely well worth a visit, its absolutely amazing to see it inside, the carvings from ice are superb. We opted not to sleep in the rooms and stayed instead in a room where there was more comfort! Think 3 beds and a couch here... More

My wife and I stayed for one night in December 2011, and one night is probably all you need. We spent Christmas in Äkäslompolo/Ylläs and travelled to the snow hotel by snowmobile, which meant getting there (in the dark) and back was as much part of the adventure as staying there. The hotel from the outside isn’t particularly stunning to... More

I start by saying this is a really great experience and I am glad we stayed, you only need 1 night (like us) then go on somewhere else - we did 3 hotels in 4 nights (see other reviews). What's good - Beautiful carvings, the experience. Dinner was nice but expensive, a great ice dining room. What's poor - I... More

This hotel is a huge joke and I would not recommend it to anyone -- unless you enjoy camping like amenities, staying in the middle of no where, dealing with rude staff, and sleeping in dirty sleeping bags. Go to the Ice Hotel in Sweden if you want to have a vacation. The ice hotel in Sweden is lovely. Anyone... More

We were married in the Ice Chapel at Lainio on 8th Feb 2012...such a unique and stunning place. Heini at Lainio was so helpful, efficient and professional, ensuring everything ran smoothly. The Ceremony is brief, but all our guests were moved by the place and the experience...we then stayed in the 'tepee'...actually a small but luxurious stone and wooden built... More

We travelled to the Laino Snow Village for our Dec 20th wedding. The staff could not have been kinder or more helpful & Heini the wedding co-ordinator was brilliant. The ice hotel itself was AMAZING! I was stunned how impressive it was, the sculptures were so detailed (one an eye was a bit scary!). The bar was even cooler, even... More
