We visited Lapland over Christmas 2014 with my 6 year old son and both sets of grandparents. The first thing to note is that it was freezing - minus 30 every day. The snow suits were good but we still needed thermals, tracksuit bottoms underneath. My son was wearing thermals, two tracky bottoms and his snow suit , so please... More

We stayed at the Yllas Log Cabins in December. What a magical place! The cabins are very pretty from the outside and comfortable and warm on the inside. Ours had a "warm room" where we could put damp clothes to dry off. The kitchen is basic - but did the trick. We did not eat in the cabin much as... More

I don’t know if these belong to the Akas hotel or not, but this review relates to what you can book as Yllas Log Cabins with Inghams. Location What Inghams describe as Yllas actually covers both the villages of Yllasjarvi & Akaslompolo. These are basically the villages either side of the Yllas fell, which is where the downhill skiing occurs.... More

This holiday was truly magical, worth every penny and is definitely a trip everyone should do at least once in their life. We did the Christmas trip with Thomson, leaving Christmas Eve for 5 days. Staying at The Lapland Hotel Akashotelli - Known as The Snow Elf through Thomson The flight out: We boarded the plane, greeted by very happy... More

This hotel was very welcoming and the rooms were kept warm and cosy (although at times too warm!) Our room was sufficient although a door between bedroom & lounge area could have been handy. Shower and bathroom were adequate. Sadly we found we didn't have time to use to small sauna. The big clothes drier was very useful. The meals... More

We were alpine skiing on our holiday. We flew to Kittilä airport and took the airport bus which took us in front of the hotel. We had a package from the hotel with skiing tickets and equipment included. Also breakfast and dinner was included as well. The staff was lovely and helpful. The skiing was excellent. The ski bus left... More

Rented a cottage with the hotel 8 years ago. Now only back for a visit. Nice to be back, very friendly lady at the restaurant/reception. Would recommend it. Very well situated, near the cross country tracks, and a small walk to the very big supermarket in the village. Go to the lake at night to see the northern lights.

We spent the 24th-29th December at the Snow Elf Hotel. We stayed in the main building and were glad we had, easy to go to meals and the evening entertainment without the constant bundling into snow suits and layers. The rooms were a little small, but had everything you needed. The staff were friendly and helpful and our 6 year... More

Stayed for 4 days just before Christmas and it was brilliant. Upgraded to one of the lodges on arrival. Room had sauna log burner and plenty of space for us all. Food was really nice with lots of choice. Location was good with supermarket a five minute walk away. Kids loved sledging around the hotel. Didn't do any of the... More

I have just returned from a weeks stay in Yllas with my husband. We stayed in one of the log cabins but had half board at the Hotel. Its important to note that if you choose to stay in a cabin rather than the hotel you may have a 10- 15 minute walk (in sub zero temperatures) to get your... More
