This little hotel was such a pleasant surprise. We had a lovely room with quality bedding, choice of pillows, good towels and nice touches like antiques and lace panels in the french doors. The gift shop was terrific with wine, handmade items and local specialties. But what makes this hotel truly special is the people who work there. Particularly Maria,... More

Amazing hotel on the Camino de Santiago, excellent food and very friendly staff. Was leaving really early so they gave me fruits & biscuits for the way. Rooms are very spacious and have all the commodities you would expect. My room had several antique pieces that gave it allot of character.

Moncloa de San Lazaro hotel in Cacabelos, Spain was such a delight I did not want to leave. Maria welcomed me with homemade empanadas and several tastes of local wine, and could not do enough to graciously make me comfortable. My room was small but so lovely, dark wood and nice quality antique-like furniture, wonderful crisp sheets, cozy blankets, a... More

My husband and I spent one night at La Moncloa de San Lázaro while walking the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. We discovered this hotel through the Posadas del Camino, their other recommended establishments were very good… this place turned out to be a tie for their very best! La Moncloa de San Lázaro is aesthetically very pleasing. The helpful... More

It's not super fancy but I loved how Spanish it was. Each room is different. All rooms had wi-fi, a little fridge, nice bathrooms. Ventilation is a little bit of a problem. It was warm when my group was there and none of the air-conditioners worked so the rooms were pretty stifling at the end of the day. The breakfasts... More

We stopped here as pilgrims for one night while walking the Camino de Santiago. The whole set is a beautiful place. You are welcomed with a glass of local wine and some homemade empanada. They treat pilgrims as proper guests, which is not always the case. Our room had a large balcony facing the main street where we sat enjoying... More

In fact when we checked in, we all wished we were staying longer than just the one night. Rooms were very quaint, spotless, quiet location. Lot of common areas. We used this hotel as a base to hike Valle de Silencio. (highly recommended area to hike) . We bought local wine from their lovely shop. Also cheese. As we were... More

Certainly the best (and most expensive) in town. We were peregrinos on the camino (hikers to Santiago) and this was end of our first day. Not knowing what to expect elsewhere in town and realizing that this was definitely a special place, we splurged on both a night and a meal at La Moncloa. The building and rooms are charming.... My friend and I stayed there on our Compostela. We really enjoyed our stay, I carried the shampoo and shower jell for days, it was so nice. The rooms were big and quiet. The restaurant was very good and the gift shop wonderful, filled with lots of local produce. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay... More
