As part of our 3 day Coiba island tour we stayed the first night in the Heliconia B&B owned by Loes en Kees. (refer also to our seperate Isla Coiba review!) The B&B is located in a deforested area of the Azuero peninsula and Loes and Kees are doing a great effort to re-forest their terrain. Hopefully they are also... More

We spent 2 month in hotel heliconia, during december 2012 and januari 2013. It was very nice to stay there and we enjoyed the breakfast and diners very. A walk over the land behind the hotel is always an experience. We discoverd lots of plants and animals. It is amazing how the trees grows in less than 5 years. 5... More

Very nice place to stay if you look for nature experience. Very nice (new) rooms available, although is possible to "experience" sleeping in the forest, with a tent available in loco. The owners are very nice persons, and most important, prepared biologists that can show you so much!! thank you for the nice time we had there!

We stayed in the Hotel Heliconia the night before and the night returning from an eight-day trip to nearby Cebaco Island. Loes and Kees ("Luce" and "Case") were helpful in so many ways, beginning with emails while we were still in the US. They are a charming and multi-talented couple: besides providing great meals and being sensitive hosts, they were... More

We had a fantastic time on our trip to the western Azuero Peninsula and Coiba Island in early February with Tanager Tourism (run by the Heliconia Inn owners), which included two relaxing nights at Heliconia Inn, a day trip to Cerro Hoya National Park, and a two night/three day excursion to Isla Coiba. Our hosts, Loes and Kees, were thoroughly... More

We have just returned from having spent 2 fantastic weeks with Loes and Kees at their comfortable B and B style hotel of just 4 rooms. We were pleasantly surprised to find such comfortable accommodation in this remote part of Panama. We loved the no TV, limited Internet access, and absolute peace. Loes and Kees treated us like family, as... More

We spent close to a week at the Heliconia at the end of December 2012, including a few days at Isla Coiba that the folks at Heliconia organized. The hotel is located close to the small fishing village of Malena in the Mariato district and is about an hour or so away from Santiago. It is run by a Dutch... More

In january we stayed 3 nights at this beautifull, place and we enjoyed it. We chose it based upon all earlier reviews. Everything was correct , about the service , the nice dutch owners , the nature, hiking possibilities and thebeaches. One comment was wrong though , you do not need a 4*4, there are potholes sure, so you will... More

Dear JosenJannie, Thank you for your review- We are glad that you enjyed your stay at Hotel Heliconia and hope to see you again. The best time to see turtle hatchlings is from October to November, also the rainy season. The work on the terracce and pool is progressing nicely and we hope to have both functional by May 2013.... We stayed at the Hotel Heliconia over the holiday break at the end of 2012, and it was an amazing, intimate and very welcoming experience. We spent two delightful nights at the Hotel Heliconia at the end of July. The Dutch biologist owners Loes and Kees are wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable hosts who willingly share stories of their adventures living in Panama and Africa along with helpful suggestions for beautiful places to explore along the Western Azuero Peninsula.
