If you are looking for a delightful taste of authentic Italy look no further than Il Cassero. This wonderful old palazzo is actually a part of the outer wall of Lucignano. It has been divided up into a number of apartment each full of antiques but with modern facilities and very spacious rooms. The rates were very reasonable. We were... More

On 27th August 2011 we returned to stay at Il Cassero in The Duke apartment where we had spent a week after our wedding in the Palazzo Vecchio in Firenze in 2004. We had often returned to see Gigi (Luigi) and Tonella (Antonella) in the intervening years as they are our Italian "family". We returned this time to celebrate the... More

We stayed at Il Cassero for two weeks in August 2011 in "Il Magnum" apartment. As soon as we arrived at Il Cassero, we knew we were onto a winner from the warm welcome from Luigi and Antonella to the lovely palazzo style apartments in the beautiful town of Lucignano. Our apartment was spacious with a large living room/bedroom with... More

Il Cassero is a wonderful 15th century Palazzo, faded elegance and shabby chic, but with all the comforts. Great base for exploring Siena, Firenza, Cortona, Arezzo, Pienza ect ect. It's not everywhere you stay that has a 12th century tower that you can go up. The view of the town of Lucignano and the surrounding countryside is amazing. The pool... More

Thanks to Luigi and Antonella for making our stay in Tuscanny such a special memory. From the time they both went to the trouble to pick us up at Arezzo station to dropping us back very early one week later, we found that nothing was too much trouble for this wonderful couple. If you only do one thing in Italy,... More

We spent a wonderful week in this perfect old town house. All the old style Tuscan charm we could have hoped for. Cool tiled interiors, antique furniture. Masses of room with tall shuttered windows and balcony overlooking the toings and froings of the ancient gates. But quiet and well appointed with showers and modern kitchen fittings within charming old kitchen.... More

Like visiting your favorite relatives in a great and historical location, time spent with Luigi and Antonella will be remembered and talked about for years. We just returned from our third visit at Il Cassero, located in Lucignano, with more fond memories of this medieval village and its friendly people. We met this charming couple 10 years ago when we... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at Il Cassero for two weeks this past summer. Our two-week stay was magical. Lucignano is a perfect location to use as a base for exploring Tuscany, and itself is the perfect Italian village that dreams are made of---beautifully portrayed in the movie "Copie Comporte." We enjoyed a host of exquisite restaurants only a stone's... More

My husband, myself and my sister stayed in a 2 bdrm apartment for a week. Our host, Luigi was very helpful with our requests for internet connection as the village has no public internet capability, and somewhere to hang washing etc. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed, although the downstairs level was a little dark. It was... More

Great Italian hospitality and accommodation at Il Cassero. As soon as you arrive at Il Cassero you know its something special. Entering the building is like steeping back into the past. The historic building forms part of the outer walls of Lucignano and access is great with good parking. We stayed in the “Rustico” apartment with spacious double and twin... More
