My husband and I had promised each other some time in Tuscany to celebrate our fifty years of marriage. Via the internet we found Calcione which was perfect for our two week stay in Casa dei Lecci. We loved the view from our huge terrace where we ate meals and relaxed. The peacefulness of the estate, the long walks exploring... More

We enjoyed our stay very, very much! One week in La Casetta and one week in Casa dei Lecci and both have their own charms. We loved the quietness, the surrounding, the whole atmosphere. The complete privacy and at the same time the friendly and informal contacts with Olivella and her family, giving any help when needed, made our stay... More

We spent a week here and our only complaint is that it was too short. Yes it is in the country which means you get to see hares, wild boar, deer, squirrels, birds, cicadas and the friendly horses of the estate -- and yes there are lizards (which we loved) and insects (we loved the many butterflies and other pretty... Il Calcione was a perfect fit for our family of five. The apartment was lovely, spacious and comfortable. The view from our rooftop terrace was spectacular! My children all loved their "private" pool and their late-night swims. The also enjoyed exploring the property where they found vineyards, orchards, chilckens, horses and a beautiful lake. We all experienced gracious hospitality in a... More

Il Calcione is the ideal place to relax, walk, swim, read, eat some meals. In 10-60 min you find beautiful villages, great restaurants, museums, relaxing terme - everything one expects from a Tuscan vacation. More

I LOVED Il Calcione! It was the most amazing week of our three weeks in Italy. It is not nearly as "rustic" as I had pictured after reading some of the reviews on Trip Advisor. It was well taken care of, had nice furniture and a fully-stocked kitchen. The from our front patio was the best. Every afternoon my husband... More

My family and I visited Il Calcione in June of 2008. We were absolutely charmed with this place. Pay heed to the other reviews in that Il Calcione is a rustic country accommodation. You will not get wined and dined here unless you do it yourself. This is exactly why we savored our stay at the Castle. The accommodations were... More

Calcione holds a very special place in our hearts, an Italian home away from home. For eight of us who spent a week there in October, it defines Italy and Tuscany -- peaceful respites with delightful people and irresistible food and wine. We elected to stay in the country and visit the cities and hill towns nearby on day trips.... More

Our week at Calcione could only have been improved by another week...or two. We were four couples sharing Pergola, with the optional fourth room and bath on the second floor. The house is breathtakingly beautiful, as is its setting at the castle gate. Olivella and her parents, the della Stufas, were charming and available, but not smothering. We did our... More

Every year my husband and I travel with a group of friends. We take turns selecting a place. I love Italy so last year we chose Calcione. What a great choice. It’s tricky because there are eight of us. Everyone loved it. What’s there not to love? We could travel to nearby cities and towns, use the pool, have dinner... More
