I stayed in this hostel for 3 nights and had a great time. It is well located, about a 2 min walk to town and right on the estuary. If you want to surf the surfing beaches are about an 8min drive away. There are two kitchens, the one in closest to reception is almost always crowded but well stocked.... More

I really like this place I'm used to spend here my holidays in Raglan. Nice staff and location. It as a lot of facilities. Clean and tidy common areas, and they have really reasonable rules: you can have you're drink on the hot tub but everyone is consious enough to respect other people sleep! Highly recommended!

As an older woman traveling alone I've had about enough of hot, stuffy shared dorm rooms in so-so accommodations. Raglan Backpackers has restored my faith that awesome accommodations can be had at a budget price. CLEAN, spacious, friendly, quiet and very comfortable, even though the majority of the guests were young surfers. Free kayaks, $2 bikes, lots of comfy spots... More

Decided to stay here very last minute. The guy who checked us in was super friendly and helpful. The backpackers itself is arranged so that it is a very social and open place with a real community feel making it easy to meet new people. Great facilities including a spa, sauna, free Internet and even a communal beer fridge. Comfy... More

My partner and I are in our 50's yet we still found The Raglan backpackers to be a delightful place to stay. We were worried about being kept up by rowdy parties but it was not the case. The management do a great job of keeping the sleeping areas quiet. the other guests were really friendly and courteous. The kitchen... More

This was the first hostel my husband and I stayed in ever; married for 30 years. We loved the experience although we were the oldest guests. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable, The shared bath area was through a connecting door and had a good lock on the shower. I was very impressed with the amenities.... More

A shame. A shame that such a beautiful place is ruined by such a single minded person with zero eye for business like it is. I don't remember the name of the guy but I know he was wearing a green beanie and was the one who used to be in the reception. On the other hand, Jenn, the other... More

We stayed here a lot for even longer periodes. The location is great to walk along the harbor, to the shops and restaurants. With a lovely and well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge area with nice woodfire burner and clean rooms this backpacker has all a traveler needs. Tim and his crew have always some great tips for everyone and every... More

I honestly can not put into words how great this hostel and the surrounding areas of raglan are/were. Im currently still here for another two days but don't know when Ill have internet access and felt so strongly about it that I thought I write a review now. I arrived in raglan after a terrible nights sleep in Auckland, where... More

Up there with one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. Staff super friendly (Mike was on the desk), amenities were immaculate, epic little surfy vibe & sooo many activities for any non-surfer (boys & girls, your non surfing partner will be stoked to crash here!) After an epic day surfing the endless lefts we came back to... More
