The location is excellent, in the heart of Newtown close to transport, cafes, restaurants and bookshops. An easy walk to the Enmore Theatre. Nothing else to recommend it. The ceiling fan barely moved on a steamy February night - turning it up slowed it down. Stay away from the kitchen if possible. We slept well despite some late night noise.... More

Never stayed at a hotel oriented towards travellers previously but Billabong is sensational. Service and Efficiency of the upmost standard and all round a terrific hotel. Accesibilty to Newtown and Sydney CBD is awesome, great kitchen facilities and a pool, I noticed a family staying which was great, very well suited to cost effective family travel as well as individual... The accommodation is definitely basic. My room smelt like a boy's dorm, the paint was peeling from the ceiling, the gaps under the skirting boards had been stuffed with plastic (which I am confident would not pass a safety inspection!) and the window had not been cleaned for ages. While the shared bathroom was fairly new, it had not been... More

I met some lovely people here who I am now spending Christmas and New Years with, that's what made my time here so enjoyable. The one thing that made my stay not so positive was the attitude of Jackie, one of the receptionists who appears to be on a mad power trip, intending to make everything harder than it needed... The double room was big and the sheets were clean. The towels were clean and changed every day. The bathroom was ok. The kitchen was VERY small and dirty. The place is not for travelers - it's mainly people who work / live there. It's a good location - near to bus / not far from train station. Good to... More

You are pretty much living with people who work here in sydney, not with people on holiday or traveling. One guy in my dorm, a tradie wakes up at 5am every day, another at 6. They live here so the room is a mess. There is a tv belonging to one of the guys that stays on until 2am blaring... More

Thomas on reception was very friendly and helpful. We had a double room which is in another building. Sure the rooms are small and the beds not huge but the towels were changed each day, there was an in room TV and the shower was great. While the kitchen is pretty small the outdoor dining was fine. Sure it is... More

(i actually stayed here Jan 204) I stayed here for around 1 month on a couple of separate occasions. I was travelling around Aus and wanted to stay somewhere outside of the City (Sydney). A few friends I met had recommended Billabong Gardens, so I thought why not?! When I got to Billabong, I think I got picked the best... More
