We visited this pub on the recommendation of a friend. The welcome from the bar staff was lovely - warm & friendly. Service order drinks and food was good. They had a fire burning lovely for a cold winters evening. The food however, was awful, the salad in the bottom of the prawn cocktail was chunky bits of lettuce and... More

We went for a mid-day meal in this old stone built village pub. The food was excellent and the service friendly. We had a table in the bar area but there is a separate dining room for busy periods and evening meals. This is entered via a warm comfy lounge. It is convenient for Hexham and the eastern stretch of the... More

Nice little quiet country pub/hotel. A tiny bit run down but not a worry - adds to the character and the place was very warm and inviting. Bar staff and reception staff excellent. No hassle whatsoever.

We didn't stay in the hotel overnight - we were passing through in a motor home with a small dog. We were made most welcome to eat in the bar with the dog under the table. The food was good and reasonably priced. ALL of the staff were polite and couldn't do enough for us

We visited the Hadrian while staying for the weekend in this appealing, friendly village. We were looking for somewhere to watch the rugby (Rugby World Cup) while enjoying a drink after a long day of walking the Hadrians Wall track. The bar area where the sport was being shown is fairly small with a large pool table in the centre,... More

We stayed here for one night while walking Hadrian's Wall. The Inn is old and a little well-worn, but certainly comfortable enough. We got a room with a bath and were very pleased to be able have a soak before bed. Dinner was huge - the food delicious and the price very good for what we got. We were also... More

We stayed in the Hadrian for one night as part of our Wall Walk. The room was lovely and well appointed with the exception that although there was a bath in the bathroom the taps had been disconnected leaving only the option of a shower, this wouldn't normally be an issue but with tired legs we had both been looking... Stopped here for one night whilst walking Hadrians Wall. Evening meal was good as was the beer but cooked breakfast was awful. Everything was microwaved (kept hearing the ping in the kitchen) and the black pudding was liquid. Blurgh! Most rooms are not en suite with four rooms sharing one separate toilet and one separate bathroom. Toilet does not have... More

Three and a half stars. Stopped here for I night as part of an Hadrians Wall holiday. Pleasant enough BUT there were 12 of us and the hot water system could not cope with everyone taking a shower at once. This could easily have been managed by telling us in advance and staggering bathroom use. Instead it was avoidable chaos... More

Stayed here for one night whilst hiking hadrian's wall. Room decoration was very old fashioned and tired. Bed was comfortable, hot water in shower didn't work it took about 10-15 minutes for it to become warm and was a trickle. Toilet made very loud strange noise for approx up to an hour after flushing. Food was good but very average... More
