My partner and I visited as part of a tour for 3 nights/4 days with untravelled paths. We visited 3 different towns throughout out our trip and stayed in 2 different hotels which was both lovely! We explored the different towns and ate out in lovely restaurants. On the third day we made our way to the Ice Hotel where... More

Fabulous trip The hotel and restaurant was excellent. It felt like a private resort. The staff were great. The chalet was a lovely warm retreat. The meal in the Ice hotel was lovely. My only slight gripe would be the distance to the toilet at night but this did not spoil my experience.

We stayed in mid March in one of the igloos, a great experience and well worth the money. Make sure when you arrive at the cable at that you show the lady behind the bar your confirmation that way you won't queue! Cable car is not for the faint hearted!!! Awesome winter park facilities, also very reasonably priced. As for... More

The beauty of this place is astounding, you need to dress correctly and be prepared you are staying at the top of a mountain. my advice dress for skiing and you will be fine, remember the weather can change dramatically, this is an experience you will not forget and the breath taking scenery is wonderful, the staff are just great... We flew into Bucharest the day before and spent a night in Bran because you have to travel a 5 hour train journey to get from Bucharest Gara Nord to Avrig and the last cable car goes up to the hotel at 5pm. We travelled without being part of a tour and had no problems! In fact the views of... More

Visited as part of a tour with untravelled paths and loved it. We were lucky enough to visit after a full week of snow so had the benefit of a white covered wonderland but clear skies and lovely sunshine! Proper clothing I would say is a must, although walking around in my layers of fleece and ski clothes during the... More

Fun, fab place to stay. The cable car journey to the mountain takes you above a road made famous by Top Gear (not for fighting or insulting the locals!!) which is impassable in winter. We visited in February 2015 and the hotel theme for this year was zodiac signs. There were also igloos for staying in and an ice church... More

We visited the Ice Hotel at Balea Lac as part of a Travelbird trip (great value for money). We arrived by cable car, as the Transfargarasan road is closed for a lot of the year due to snow. We were only allowed minimal baggage due to this. Once up there, it was like stepping into another world. So beautiful, tons... More

The hotel is a building made of ice and functional winter. It is made of ice brought from Balea lake located very close to this hotel. Is composed of 12 rooms, each with a name sign allows overnight accommodation. In the center of the hotel can enjoy various drinks at the bar located inside this location. It's a great location...
