After a few nights in Yurt camps and home stays its nice to have an 2/3 star western style hotel to put your feet up for a few days. Breakfast is a bit Germanic with its salami and cheese BUT there is cereal and NO MUTTON :-) ha ha Didnt have dinner or lunch here so can't comment - around... More

On a recent business trip, we were booked into another hotel in Karakol. Upon arrival, we were told that there was a city-wide problem with water but that the water would come back on later in the evening, around 10pm. This, of course, didn't happen, but a 6:15 am I heard a gurgling noise in my bathroom and surmised that... More

Well, we arrived in Karakol, it was grey and dumb... Luckily, we stayed two days at Amir Hotel: very clean, nice rooms, friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Highly recommended!

If you are looking for something local, this is not the place you would be looking. But I strongly recommend this hotel because everything is vert well organised except the payment. But that is not aproblem arising because of the hotel. In Karakol, no credit cards work on the weekends. Not even in Bankomats. So be sure that you have... More

when i was in karakol this was about the only hotel that had recent rooms and amenities. it was either that or the usual random guesthouse, typical of kyrghystan. staff was not utterly friendly. rooms were clean and ok, although the sparky colors were a bit too much for my taste. no local style whatsoever. this is a generic, basic... We stayed here in August 2011. I really liked this hotel. It was modern, clean and nicely done out. Our room had quite funky decor. There was also half decent wifi. You don't get a lot of mod-cons: no air con in our room, no room safe (i used the hotel safe), no fridge and hot water was a bit... More

I stayed here for one night. The hotel is very clean, nice room and the staff speaks english very well. The bed was maybe a bit too narrow (maybe 80 cm?), but definately the most comfortable bed I have slept in at any hotel in Central Asia! The bad part was the dinner. Not only had they forgotten to prepare... More

Karakol isn't a major tourist destination and there aren't many hotels. There are a few homestays and B & B though if that's your thing. Hotel Amir is a new property(from 2006 I think) and the place is very modern. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The hotel has tourist information for the town and internet access. The hotel... More

Situated just behind the university area in Karakol the Amir is a modern building in a quiet residential street. It is used by tour groups. It is very clean throughout and the staff are friendly with good English. Rooms were small with rather uncomfortable trendy furniture, bathroom was fine. However a major problem was noise as the building is basically... More

This is a new hotel, apparently there is some Swiss ownership involved. It is very clean and contemporary - no carpets which made it a bit noisy, some nice local felt wall hangings on the walls. We had dinner here two nights, the first night there was a french tour group in and we got whatever they had, the second... More
