We booked this with some reservations after reading previous reviews but found Xander to be a well-run and comfortable hotel. Of course you have to accept the Austrian approach to early dinner and don't expect to feel comfortable if you want to start dinner at 7.59pm - but come down at 7pm and the service is fine. Our waitress, Gabriella,... More

It is always interesting to see how a hotel performs when it is at maximum capacity. This hotel has responded with what strikes me as typical Austrian efficiency. However, this also means that the guests have to comply with the hotel's timings as to mealtimes etc. The only rather irritating issue here is that they do close the bar at... More

If you're going for cross country skiing, walking or cycling the SportHotel Xander is a good choice, if you don't want to be in a Village. The spa facilities are excellent, including 3 saunas, one a real Finnish type sauna with real Finnish temperature. The steam room is the real thing and the areas surrounding the spa are clean and... We had a week skiing holiday staying at the Xander and while overall we found it a comfortable friendly place there are a few niggles that the management could address. First, they charge for tap water at dinner. I know in the greater scheme of things this is not a tragedy but it is annoying for a four star hotel... More

Our four children (aged 16,14,12 & 11) requested a different type of holiday this year to the normal Med resorts, and so we thought we'd hit the mountains. The Sporthotel Xander is in the Leutasch Valley, in the small hamlet of Kirchplatzl. There is a church to one side and a nun's retreat to the other - the morning bell... More

The hotel Xander is a great choice for a summer holiday whether you want to be active or just relax. For the relaxing option there is a spa complete with indoor swimming pool and sun loungers in the hotel garden. Activities include walking and cycling direct from the hotel which can provide mountain bikes or e-bikes, golfing nearby, and not... More

This was a cycling/ walking holiday in June to switch off and improve fitness. As a solo traveller the hotel staff could not have been more friendly and helpful and I never felt treated differently unlike other larger hotels in Austria. A lovely cold platter arrived at my room within minutes of checking in after the flight was delayed and... More

We love walking in the hills and mountains in this area. The hotel is vey clean and the staff make an effort to be friendly and helpful. Food is plentiful and of a high standard. The spa offers excellent facilities compared to the gym which has only three pieces of equipment. Some guest may find the hotel too far away... More

We were here for a10 day cross country skiing holiday with headwater. We could ski straight from the door of the hotel, fantastic! Although the main village with shopping amenities was approx. 20 minute walk away. In every aspect the service at the hotel excellent, rooms were well equipped and spacious. At all meals there was a wide variety of... More

We stayed here for a week as part of a cross country skiing holiday with exodus/ head water holidays. One amazing thing about the hotel was the food which was good and plentiful they also served afternoon tea 2-4 pm each day which was included and was a sort of lunch. Our room was adequate if a little dated. Now... More
