We stopped here for a cream tea during a five mile walk. We ordered two cream teas and one tea. Coming from Devon, we expected two scones each with cream and jam, but only one scone each was offered. The bill for this came to £14. Lovely tea, lovely scones, lovely waitress. We sat outside around the back of the... More

We were met with a friendly welcome. My elderly mother given a ground floor garden room (French windows and sitting-out area) and I had the room above. Nice touches in the room included a small Thermos of fresh milk rather than plastic imitation, fresh fruit bowl, small biscuit tin and bedtime chocolates. Comfortable beds and lovely soft furnishings and comfy... More

A wonderful place for very pleasant service and ambiance. Went here for Sunday lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The whole experience was a joy, firstly we were invited to sit in the drawing room and enjoy a pre. lunch drink and a dish of nibbles, olives, nuts and crisps. The lunch itself was of excellent quality and presentation.I had... More

Stayed here for one night as a surprise birthday treat. It was such a relaxing stay and you are looked after so well. We thought the sherry was a fun touch along with fresh milk for the tea and coffee and homemade biscuits. Yes the bombay mix was probably not fresh-is it ever?! Give that a miss and leave plenty... On our last full day in the Peaks we had booked a Dinner at the Riverside House Hotel, or so one had thought. Having what I may term as a senior moment I had book somewhere completely different, they did find us a table and allow us to have a two course meal rather than the set three course of... More

Stayed at Riverside House for one night in early May. First impressions are good, the hotel is in a beautiful setting by the river, it is a pretty building and the reception staff welcoming and professional. The room however (#3 or "Fern") was definitely on the small side, at this sort of price I expect to be able to watch... More

We go here occasionally for lunch. It never disappoints and is always special. Full of old world charm it is like stepping back to a quieter age. You are ushered into tastefully furnished sitting rooms before being summoned to table. The service is excellent, the food interesting and beautifully presented and the wine list very comprehensive (if expensive!). There is... More

We stayed here for a long weekend. Its beautiful. Our room was nicely decorated (roll top bath) and some lovely touches, fruit, bottles of water, tray of nuts, filter coffee, biscuits, sherry and chocolates, replenished daily too. Service is fantastic. The bed in our room was too soft for us so Jo and her team arranged another room with a... More

We stayed at the hotel for a weekend DB&B deal, it is set in a wonderful location. The hotel is old and full of charm, all the public rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished with antiques. We found the food excellent and there was plenty of it, nice touches were the canapés and pre-dessert. Presentation was good and the staff... More
