We were escaping from London for a two night break and had heard about the Cheshire Cheese Inn on a radio 4 programme on Bella Hardy. On an impulse we booked it, even though we knew there wouldn't be any live folk music while we were there. We arrived early which wasn't a problem and received a warm welcome. Our... More

Just returned from a very enjoyable weekend break at the Cheshire Cheese. Laura and her team are extremely hard working and efficient, but still manage to be friendly and welcoming at the same time. Although the pub was very busy in the evenings, our food was excellent and arrived without delay. The pub is ideally situated for hill walking, and... More

Although we only stayed for one night we were made to feel extremely welcome by Laura, Craig and the staff. The accommodation was excellent value for money and we were very impressed with dinner and our hearty breakfast. We hope to be back for a longer stay next time. .

Quirky lay out but nothing quirky about the service, the food, the drink or the prices. All four were consistently excellent. More details superfluous. . Well worth a visit for drink or food and atmosphere.

We visited for a couple of evening meals. Good variety on the menu, friendly service. On the Thursday there was a folk evening following our meal. The pub got very crowded, as this is obviously popular. Very enjoyable evenings

We booked 3 nights at this picturesque pub as part of a motor cycle road trip. The previous night had involved camping in the tail-end of ex-hurricane Bertha. We arrived at the Cheshire Cheese Inn soaked through and very cold! (We had chosen to stay here because there was a bath.......we felt it would be necessary after 3 days at... More

I am very happy to recommend the Cheshire Cheese and have little doubt that the owner will realise her ambitions to become better still. Yes there is some traffic noise - but not a lot given that it was August - but that is what one gets on a road side location and difficult to sustain a serious complaint given... More

We stayed for a long weekend at The Cheshire Cheese Inn we had mixed feelings on our stay there. The room was overall nice but very noisy with road traffic. Unfortunately the window did not shut properly so we were unable to block the noise out. Traffic along the small country lane was busy at all hours. The bathroom despite... More

I am sorry that you had some issues regarding your stay. During your visit I asked you a number of times if everything was OK and so did the staff. I firmly got the impression that you didn’t want to engage with me which I fully respected. Traffic is usually quieter at night and we’re not on a main road... More

For a meal or a pint, this pub is a must. It is small, on two levels, old and charming. The staff are terrific, the meals excellent and very reasonably priced. The sea bass or their fabulous "Yorkie" are restaurant quality. Tucked away where most tourists would never find it on the Edale to Hope Valley road (lane!) this pub... More
