Laura and Craig are such lovely hosts. From the moment we arrive on Friday evening after the drive from London we're greeted with kind smiles, real ales, warm hearth and fantastic food. All of the rooms are great - 2 are larger and 2 are more cozy but all are perfect for a weekend getaway and the beds are just... More

Our romantic weekend away walking in the Peak District could have been ruined by wet and windy weather but the warm welcome, fine food, cosy fires and comfortable rooms made for a memorable stay. However, what makes the Cheshire Cheese really stand out and sets it apart from other establishments is the exceptional and personal customer service that it effortlessly... More

Having popped in here at the end of last year I have been overtly remiss in not writing up a review of such a fantastic venue. To be honest I had found this place by sheere chance while going down a small country road and seeing what looked like a good pub. I often find that a pub with a... More

My favourite eatery when I'm in The Peaks. Book to avoid disappointment. Great traditional fayre with a comfortable, cosy atmosphere. Staff are helpful, friendly and caring. Don't confuse this with a similar named pub in Castleton. It's streets ahead of the other one. I've eaten here a few times and the quality is consistently good. Great menu.

We visited this place at the end of a wet walk on our first evening staying in Hope. We sat by the open fire and had a few drinks then a lovely meal. Time went on and we found ourselves joining the locals for their weekly quiz! and we won! Next day we visited again and had lunch. We had... More

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch after a lengthy walk in the Derwent/Ladybower reservoir area. We decided to venture into Hope and take a look at The Cheshire Cheese Inn. The view from the outside didn't disappoint and the menu was varied and very interesting. My husband and I both decided on the Round Green Venison Haunch with... More

We stayed here for the weekend and found it a lovely little inn. The pub was definitely one of the best I'd been in...it was busy, very traditional...but not overly chintzy... a relaxing atmosphere and the food was great. The staff were welcoming and nothing too much trouble. We were well looked after and would definitely recommend it to others.

We were staying at Losehill Hotel, But thought we would venture out for some dinner. This pub seemed to be the closest to walk to, so thought we would take the risk. I'm glad we did as the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was impeccable. Really lovely vibe in the pub too. We were served by a chap... More

Recently stopped overnight at this delightful venue. Roaring fire and real ale were most welcome after the cold and snow of a trip to Castleton. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Cask ales were spot on. Had the steak for an evening meal which was succulent and cooked to perfection. Followed by the largest portion of the best treacle sponge and... More
