We stayed here for the weekend and found it a lovely little inn. The pub was definitely one of the best I'd been in...it was busy, very traditional...but not overly chintzy... a relaxing atmosphere and the food was great. The staff were welcoming and nothing too much trouble. We were well looked after and would definitely recommend it to others.

We were staying at Losehill Hotel, But thought we would venture out for some dinner. This pub seemed to be the closest to walk to, so thought we would take the risk. I'm glad we did as the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was impeccable. Really lovely vibe in the pub too. We were served by a chap... More

Recently stopped overnight at this delightful venue. Roaring fire and real ale were most welcome after the cold and snow of a trip to Castleton. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Cask ales were spot on. Had the steak for an evening meal which was succulent and cooked to perfection. Followed by the largest portion of the best treacle sponge and... More

This was the second time we stayed at the Cheshire Cheese and we were not let down. Unusually for many pubs of today all the staff remain the same as they have for several years which is a reflection of the owners and the overall atmosphere of the pub. Set just on the borders of Hope down a quiet country... More

We ate here on valentines night and the staff were excellent and the food even better ! It was great to see that the food was sourced locally and local beers that really were first class. I will definitely be recommending to friends and will go again soon.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere in the pub, stayed on pub quiz night and it was a great laugh with all of the locals. Unfortunately, our room wasn't quite as good. Where I had paid for a king-sized bed what I actually got was 2 single beds stuck together. Separate single mattresses, with one king sized sheet pulled over them. It... More

I was disappointed to read your review. When you arrived I checked you in and said if there was anything we could do to make your stay more comfortable then to let me know – and I meant it! The bed is purpose built and designed to be split and used as a twin. We use mattress coverings to disguise... More

A little bit off the Hope main drag, but so worth the extra distance! Had Sunday roast there after a snowy walk. Not one but 2 roaring fires, excellent food, delicious local ales, wonderful staff, fantastic menu, and great atmosphere in this gem of a pub. Can't recommend highly enough.

A traditional pub with a big log fire and proper beer. We were lucky to be here on a Thursday night when they had folk music on dogwood rose, nice crowd and a lovely atmosphere, drinking real beer and tapping our feet along with it!

Ate there last week after a walk in the rain and hail. Lovely setting with real log fires and dog friendly as well. Ate a lovely steak and kidney pudding that was rich, sticky and full of flavour. Would happily have spent the afternoon there drinking by the fire.
