Just happened to drive by this pub. Glad we stopped to check out the menu. Good range of main dishes. Settled for a large Yorkshire pudding filled with pork sausages, mash and roast veg. Good portion size and tasted great. My friend had a steak pie. Also good quality. Two lovely puddings finished off the meal. The total (inc. beer... More

My wife & I stayed one night between walking days in the area and it was perfect. Very friendly welcome & walking route advice, Pub has lots of character, room was clean and comfortable, evening meal and breakfast were really nice. You can't ask for more for £70 a night.

We have just spent a fantastic couple of nights at the Cheshire Cheese in the amazing Peak District. This is just the sort of place you want to come back to after a day's walking. It is relaxed, cosy and welcoming. The room we were in (room 4) was extremely comfortable and well kitted-out with tea & coffee-making facilities, toiletries,... More

The drinks where great. However when the meals did arrive! Lovely but over priced for what we got. Also not enough veg, which was over cooked. Plus when it came to paying for the meal we had to ask three different staff for the bill. PS the Pub was not really busy so no excuse for slow service.

I am very sorry that you were unhappy with the service and cost of your evening, however we do find that our prices are on par with what you would expect to pay for fresh home cooked food in this part of the world. We serve what we believe to be the appropriate amount of vegetables to each table and... More

We stayed at this lovely, cosy pub over the Bank Holiday weekend. We received a very warm welcome and were looked after extremely well throughout our stay. Rooms were comfortable, spotlessly clean and very well maintained during our stay. Supplies of teas and milk cartons were plentiful and replenished each day(not always the case) as were the toiletries in the... More

Visited the pub both nights we stayed in Hope the week of May 10th at the Underleigh House B&B--probably the best B&B ever. Anyhow, this traditional, cozy pub was a real joy for my wife and me. The staff was friendly and attentive and we enjoyed our meals on both evenings. They had a good selection of draft beers on... More

Perhaps we visited on an unusual evening, but last night many dishes were off the menu. The staff were friendly, but the waitresses were not particularly efficient. Having brought us the dessert menu, no-one returned to take an order. My husband eventually ordered at the bar (the barman was very helpful and efficient from the start) but I had lost... More

We are so sorry that you felt that you had a bad experience here last Tuesday evening. There were 3 main dishes missing out of a menu of 18. We do our best to make sure that this doesn’t happen but sometimes when we have been extremely busy we run out of things and we have to re-stock. As much... More

Visited this evening with friends, very impressed. Prices were not cheap but the menu did offer small portions of some items. e.g. lasagne and chips small portion £4.95. The main meals were around £10. We would willingly return. Suggest that you book because it was busy.

We found the pub by chance, and are so pleased we did. Very quaint with wooden floors and low ceilings. Reasonable range of real ales but more a food pub than a drinkers pub. Food was very good as was the value. If you like your beer ask for the tasting rack with 3 1/3's.
