Had a great 3 days stay, when we arrived to be greeted by Brian he even offered to carry our bags up to our room which was very nice, we were allowed to check in at 12.30 as they kindly got the room ready,we had room number 2 which was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, the whole pub was done out in... Once again our stay at the Poachers Arms has been excellent. Food, accommodation and a great welcome as usual. A great place to rest after walking the hills. We will miss them now they are leaving. Good luck for the future.

We have popped into The Poachers on a couple of occasions whilst visiting the Hope Valley. The beer choice is quite varied and the food menu extensive. After a long day walking the ridges it's nice to find a comfortable haven which serves reasonably priced quality food. My 3 companions and I selected different dishes and we all cleared our... More

Stayed here over the Easter bank holiday. Room was beautiful. Lots of extra little touches. Spotlessly clean. Petra and Bryan are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Good homecooked food in the restaurant. Very central for exploring the Peak District.

Our family stopped here today for lunch, my partner's mother who cannot eat wheat was drawn by the Gluten Free Food Available board outside, We were made to feel very welcome, the barman pointed out that all gluten free meals were appropriately marked on the menu. Food was serviced in good time, I opted for the Beef Ale and Shropshire... More

We look forward to our visits to the Poachers. The food is always top class (and plenty of it). We always get a nice welcome at table 1 ( or any other for that matter). We had a lovely Turkey lunch last Sunday. See you all again quite soon. Peter & Wendy

We had a Sunday lunch here and the quality and quantity of the food was excellent. Our daughter is coeliac and most of the menu had gluten free options. The Sunday roast included a superb gluten free Yorkshire pud. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Well worth a visit

We popped in on route to Castleton as the sign advertised real ales and food. We were welcomed with 'you don't want any food do you?' as if we were an inconvenience. There was only one real ale on offer and only one draft lager. We sat in the beer garden, unable to see back into the building due to... More

Spent a lovely afternoon in the beer garden. As soon as we sat down we were asked if we would like a bowl of water for our two dogs. Highly recommend the fish and chips, some of the best I've had in a long time, generous portion sizes and good value for money. Would definetly come back again.

We stayed at the poachers arms on the nights of the 5th and 6th of june 2013. Not one to be petty all i"m saying is my one and only little gripe is the fact that between 3 and 6 in the afternoon you cant get into the premises without ringing the doorbell to be let in !. Please bear... More
