My wife booked this venue thinking that the images on the web site sufficiently gave an honest impression with descriptive narrative providing the flavour for our short stay in the Peak District. How disappointing we were!! We requested a family room anticipating to be allocated a suitable room to the level of the price charged which was over a hundred... More

Upon arrival after a very rainy journey, we were shown to our very nice bedroom. When we asked about the internet etc., the staff were very helpful and also made us a pot of tea. We found the room clean, the bed comfy and the en-suit good with an excellent shower. The breakfast arrived quickly and was very tasty. The... More

We booked a 2 night stay at this hotel even though the reviews on TA are terrible, but read on one or two that the management had been taken over so thought we would give it a try and we JUST had to write a review to say how lovely our stay was. We did take the advice and email... More

Room very basic, clean bed comfortable ....however, mould growing on ceiling and inside wardrobe. A bit noisy as we were in the front of the building. Breakfast was chaos, staff wanting to help but not very organised. Toaster needs replacing as very slow. No water pressure or hot water for a shower in the morning, met someone on the way... More

A good location on the Tissington trail but that's where the positives end. When we booked we were told we would have to arrive at 8 PM as the reception was closed after that. This was not practical as we were travelling 150 miles to get there after work on Friday we were then told as a favour they would... More

I fully understand your grievance and I would feel the same. As of April 27th 2015 Newton House is under new ownership. Work is constantly being carried out to update the Hotel, without any disruption to our customers. Cliff, Manager, Newton House. More

Very dated hotel, worth no more than £50 a night for a double room with breakfast. Be warned to check your bank statement as we were charged twice and had to use a Solicitor to get our money back, very wrong. Be warned, drive on as there are many reputable hotels in the area. I will not be recommending this... More

I stayed here with my husband recently and would recommend it highly. The room was clean and comfortable and warm. We really enjoyed the continental breakfast and found the staff to be very friendly and we would go back. You are on the Tissington trail - a disused railway line which is wonderful for cycling with easy access to Ashbourne... More

We hired a private room for 20 family members to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday and the food and ambience was excellent, the service was a bit slow but overall we had a fantastic party. Would recommend this venue to alll.

We were bought this as a Christmas present - 2 night stay with B&B and free evening meal! Visiting on a weekend stipulated an £10 per room per night. When we phoned the manager stated £30 but was corrected. Upon arrival, we were the only car parked and were pleasantly met by the ginger fluffy cat which has been previously... More

I agree with other reviewers that the outside and public areas of the hotel need a good update. It does look shabby and old fashioned and we were apprehensive when booking in. So much so that we had a look at the room first! We were pleasantly surprised, the room was very nice with adequate storage and clean nicely ironed... More
