A marvellous hotel right in the middle of town set in an old Spanish villa with open central courtyard. Huge rooms and period furniture. Don't expect Internet access or any decent TV or, indeed, a wide choice of food - this is a country hotel somewhat off the beaten tourist route. Take some time to sample the rum cocktails in... We really enjoyed this hotel...yes this is Cuba- and it is a government run hotel!! which meant the internet was not working -and like most places in cuba the food is average to terrible. They were unable to make a pina colada because they had no pineapple juice...in Cuba!!! We asked for a quiet room and we were happy with... More

A very historic building from the colonial period which is centred around an inside courtyard and restaurant area. The main problem is that the wooden shutters don't really go with expectations on sleep quality when you on a central town square. That said for one night ( New Years Eve) it wasn't that bad and I'm glad we stayed although... More

We stayed here for 2 nights after a "our pick" review in Lonely Planet. The hotel is lovely but the pillows on the beds are neck breakers. Our guide was in the room next to ours and on the first morning they wanted him to move to their sister hotel to free up his room for a tour. I refused... More

We were looking forward to staying at this hotel but it was closed when we arrived despite a written confirmation. We had to be unceremoniously relocated to another, far less desirable establishment. We were told that this was part of the same group and I wonder if this was partially due to an attempt to manage low occupancy levels accross... More

We stayed here as a respite from the travelling & dust of 3 weeks in Cuba. An astonishingly beautiful hotel with wonderfully large & clean rooms. We stayed as the lonely planet recommended it for its food. The down side was that had had problems & there was no food. We had to set at their sister hotel up the... More

I was in this Hotel for two nights. The village is great and I recommend it, but this hotel belongs to the main Hotel Plaza and it very well recovered, with good taste decoration, well thought through. But one simple detailed made the experience bad... The room was street level and it did not had a glass, it just has... More

We were on a seven day tour of Cuba, then a week at the beach, this was the first hotel we stayed after our arrival from the UK and a 3hr coach journey from the airport, the hotel is full of old world charm, the rooms are clean and comfortable, food left a lot to be desired but it is... More

Sancti Spiritus became our favourite town of Colonial buildings, friendly people and interesting sightseeing. Quite by chance whilst looking for A Casa Particulares we came across Hotel Rijo and simply couldn't resist. We booked in and enjoyed our two very comfortable nights very much, feeling very refreshed ready for our long drive back to Havana. Only two rooms were available... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in this beautiful hotel with all the colonial furnishings, fountains, balconies and statues you could wish for. Oh what luxury to have 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets in the spacious suite! The seating area was very comfy and the air-con efficient. We felt that we had very good value for money here. The only...
