This hotel was the first stop on our tour and we found it charming. The rooms were lovely with very clean bathroom and toilet. The evening meal and breakfast were very good and enjoyable with good service

Receptionist Jose had been watching my friend & I smoking our cigars & told us they had cigars at good prices. They did a switch and bait with the what they showed us and sold us banana leave instead!

We stayed in Sancti Spiritus, which is a really great and nice city as well/worth a visit, in the Cubanacan Hostal del Rijo or also known as Hotel Encanto del Rijo. The building is a really nice one and the hotel is located right in the heart of Sancti Spiritus - right next to the beautiful cathedral - so you´re... More

Did not stay here this year. I usually stop for a couple of days before going to one of the resorts on the sea During several previous visits to Sancti Spiritus. Rooms are clean and charming old world Cuba. Prices are not bad for Cuba but compared to back here in Canada, the level of service , style and comfort... More

After staying in many worn-out hotels in Cuba, Hostal del Rijo was a very pleasant surprise. Very nice athmosphere, good rooms, plenty of warm water, and very good service. Would definitely recommend.

A marvellous hotel right in the middle of town set in an old Spanish villa with open central courtyard. Huge rooms and period furniture. Don't expect Internet access or any decent TV or, indeed, a wide choice of food - this is a country hotel somewhat off the beaten tourist route. Take some time to sample the rum cocktails in... We really enjoyed this hotel...yes this is Cuba- and it is a government run hotel!! which meant the internet was not working -and like most places in cuba the food is average to terrible. They were unable to make a pina colada because they had no pineapple juice...in Cuba!!! We asked for a quiet room and we were happy with... More

A very historic building from the colonial period which is centred around an inside courtyard and restaurant area. The main problem is that the wooden shutters don't really go with expectations on sleep quality when you on a central town square. That said for one night ( New Years Eve) it wasn't that bad and I'm glad we stayed although... More

We stayed here for 2 nights after a "our pick" review in Lonely Planet. The hotel is lovely but the pillows on the beds are neck breakers. Our guide was in the room next to ours and on the first morning they wanted him to move to their sister hotel to free up his room for a tour. I refused... More

We were looking forward to staying at this hotel but it was closed when we arrived despite a written confirmation. We had to be unceremoniously relocated to another, far less desirable establishment. We were told that this was part of the same group and I wonder if this was partially due to an attempt to manage low occupancy levels accross... More
