Stopped at Pateley Bridge on the recommendation of a friend when we took the scenic route from York to Stump Cross caverns. (Lovely drive btw.) Stopped in for a late lunch as a snap decision and very happy that we did. Warm welcome, tasty food, friendly service. The sandwiches were delicious and hearty. Three of us had different cakes and... We were not staying at Talbot House, but wandered in looking for afternoon tea. Had probably the best bacon butties ever, followed by tasty tea cakes. The waitress was very friendly and efficient. We were so impressed with the food and the ambiance of this very convenient location, that we all returned the next afternoon for a repeat order. Would... More

We were staying here for one night whilst completing the Way of the Roses. After a very wet, long tiring day we were greeted with a very warm and friendly welcome. Rooms were comfortable and clean only minor point was shower in top floor rooms struggled pumping the water through. Breakfast great.. Cooked to order, fresh ingredients and very tasty.... More

We stayed at Talbot House on the Way of the Roses Coast to Coast bike ride and it was a great choice. A great welcome and very comfortable room. Allowed us to put our bikes inside the main house, really thoughtful gesture and indicative of the high level of service. Breakfast was outstanding and set us up for the climb... More

Despite the tearoom being just 15 minutes from closing we were warmly welcomed. We sat on the terrace around the back as our friends had their black lab 'Leo' with them. Leo got stuck into making friends with our hosts' own black Labradors whilst we pondered the menu. We all chose scampi, salad and chips which turned out to be... More

Myself and my wife stayed here last weekend to escape the rat-race of living in the city. Upon arrival we were greeted by one of the owners who met us with a friendly 'Hello'. We were asked if our trip was ok and then after a few more words we were shown to our room, with our overnight bag being... More

We stayed here last weekend as we were meeting friends from New Zealand. Lovely, friendly welcome and help with finding parking. The room was very clean and cosy and the bed was especially comfortable. We had a lovely meal in the local pub with our friends topped by a good night's sleep. Breakfast next morning was tasty and plentiful with... More

we called for lunch a couple of years ago doing the same cycle route and were happy when we realised this was the same establishment for our stay on night 1. There was a mis-communication about how many rooms/people we had, which was very easily rectified with no fuss or complaint, and Jill very helpfully took our bags in early... More

We stayed here last weekend and from start to finish it was just terrible. Rude staff, undercooked food for breakfast that made me very ill the next day and pretty overpriced to top it off....Also found what i can only describe as "nut hairs" in the apparently clean bedding. And seeing as it is called the "tea room" on arrival... More
