I like writing Trip Advisor reviews, but this one is proving tricky. How do you critique something which is essentially beyond criticism. The countryside in which it sits - beautiful. The building and grounds - stunning. The interior decor - charming. The staff - equally so. The food - Worthy of further discussion. You may not think to look at... More

A wonderful place to end our few days in the Dales, celebrating our golden wedding. Our room was like a small apartment and very comfortable. A very inviting afternoon tea was provided in the lounge, with luxury chairs and open fire. We very much enjoyed both the setting and the content of our evening taster menu - the imaginative combinations... More

We stayed dinner, bed and breakfast in order to get the most out of our dining treat and we enjoyed every minute. The unobtrusive, friendly staff, the comfortable accommodation, the delightful food and relaxing ambience all made for a very nice experience indeed. We enjoyed it so much we promised ourselves we'd be back before too long!

We stayed overnight for a friends party. We had the good fortune to have a fabulous spring day, which made everything a whole lot nicer. The place is so pretty. We were greeted at reception with a smile and the staff greeted us as if they already knew us - in a nice way. Throughout our stay the staff were... More

Log fire, beautiful room, beautiful food. We found the whole ambience just perfect. A little unsure before we arrived - would we feel out of place? Not so .... An eclectic mix of people, mostly all doing exactly as we were, experiencing a little taste of amazing food, beautiful surroundings and is a treat to be savoured and thoroughly enjoyed.... More

We stayed here with a group of people. The courtyard rooms are delightful, the restaurant is pleasant as is the bar area but that is not overly large. I felt the food was very expensive for what you received and the portions not generous for what are London prices in Yorkshire. The staff are pleasant however on an afternoon, one... More

Stayed on a sat eve with dinner bed and breakfast. A fantastic experience from start to end. The room was spacious with a great view. Drinks by the fire and the dinner that followed were outstanding. Breakfast was excellent. But the standout were the friendly staff. Would recommend.

The hotel is in a beautiful location, surrounded by the Yorkshire dales and peace and quiet. The restaurant and lounge are in a lovely old building which is very homely ( although a bit hot with roaring fires!) . We had a superior room (no 20) which was upstairs in the courtyard with a nice lounge area, very modern bathroom... More

Breathtakingly good. The atmosphere is serene, the hospitality welcoming without being gushy. And the food is to die for. Exquisite, locally sourced, food cooked to perfection by the best chef in the country. Frances' food is to die for. From amuse bouches to dessert, this place is just out of this world. The best in the country, I'd say.
