Had a lovely lunch of grouse on mash, red cabbage, carrots and peas. Lovely gravy, or jus as it said on the menu. Not cheap but very very nice. Friendly staff, log fires, just what you need on a very wet rainy windy Saturday. Also had coffee and some red wine. A treat, but we will go again next year... More

We visit this pub every time we stay at Pateley Bridge. It's in an amazing location, it's a trek if the weather isn't good but definitely worth it. It's rustic, usually full of locals and folk like us - lots of friendly chat and laughter and the food is excellent served by obliging smiley staff. We have always found extremely... More

If you're looking for authentic Yorkshire hospitality then the crowns for you. No airs and graces, a real lived in village definitely not commercialised. Arrived here after our day out walking to find the pub filled to the rafters with grouse shooters. Locals kept the place busy all night. The food is good pub grub and the bedrooms are clean... More

Excellent traditional pub in the Dales. The way pubs used to be were you can go for a good laugh and good food. The whole team that run the pub are really friendly. Angie makes some really nice meals all freshly made and served with a smile. Will be visiting again very soon.

I took a walking party of 16 people here for lunch after recceeing it in person and on the web-sites. Our party were very satisfied with the ambience, quality of food and service. The food portions were substantial, the beer was well kept and the service was very friendly. What is their to dislike? We took care to arrive as... More

This is a great location in some of the finest country in the UK, but don't expect the lack of welcome in the pub. I can understand there are limitations on what can be offered but when someone is in the hospitality sector then even bad news, such as no food at 2pm on a bank holiday, needs to be... More

Called in here twice during our camping trip. It was packed both times, likely because of the poor weather. Yes, it is cash only and there are boards up in the pub to that effect. So likely the landlord is a little grumpy when asked repeatedly and I can understand how he could come across as odd / unwelcoming. But... More

I Stayed here again and can't get enough of the place, whilst it's not the worlds most comfortable or best equipped hotel it oozes charm warmth and authenticity the small bar is always welcoming and is regularly filled with locals who are interested in you and don't freeze you out. The hotel serves increasingly good selection of home cooked food... More

We were staying at How Stein Gorge campsite (which was great) so decide to go out one evening. In short went to this place that looked lovely and very traditional. Asked if they accept cards as we only had £40 with us for a young family of four so didn't think it would go that far, but only to be... More

Arrived on a Bank Holiday Monday at 1.55 pm to be told very bluntly that we had 4 minutes to order food. No welcoming smile - just the impression that our custom wasn't particularly wanted. The pub is in a beautiful spot but with an attitude like this it doesn't deserve to do well. A few lessons in customer relations... More
