Called in again whilst camping in lofthouse. The landlord is fab as are his kitchen and wait staff. I had a lamb shank dinner which was amazing, it was hot and so so fresh. My husband had the steak pie which we were reliably informed by chef had just come out of the oven. This pub is a definite must... More

Stopped here for sandwiches and a drink. There were 11 of us in total so a it of a rush for them. Landlord a bit of a character but very friendly. Good sandwiches and service. Nice country pub used by locals as well as visitors. Dog friendly.

One of my favourite walking destinations, cracking pint of goose eye with gammon steak, eggs, chips and peas, bring it on! Very generous portion cooked to perfection. My pale had a lamb shank with red wine gravy chips and peas and did not stop saying how good it was! perhaps the excellent beer loosened his usually "quiet manner" ! one of... More

Had a lovely weekend at The Crown . Loads of character in the pub and the landlord himself is a character !! En suite room very warm and clean . Tea making facilities and hair dryer provided . Evening meal and breakfast plentiful and very tasty. Can't fault it !!

The Crown Hotel in Middlesmoor is not posh. It's a proper Dales pub with rooms. We didn't stay there - but a quick pint mid-walk turned into several plus a hearty lunch. The food is simple but wholesome; the local banter is just priceless and Malcolm, the legendary landlord is perfect material for a television sit com. He's a real... More

For a true taste of Yorkshire Ale, food and wit you must put The Crown at the top of your list to visit. Black sheep ale to help wash down Patley Bridge sausage or steak. All served up with the best dose of wit and banter from the best landlord in the UK. Malcolm has become a legend in the... More

Had a lovely lunch of grouse on mash, red cabbage, carrots and peas. Lovely gravy, or jus as it said on the menu. Not cheap but very very nice. Friendly staff, log fires, just what you need on a very wet rainy windy Saturday. Also had coffee and some red wine. A treat, but we will go again next year... More

We visit this pub every time we stay at Pateley Bridge. It's in an amazing location, it's a trek if the weather isn't good but definitely worth it. It's rustic, usually full of locals and folk like us - lots of friendly chat and laughter and the food is excellent served by obliging smiley staff. We have always found extremely... More

If you're looking for authentic Yorkshire hospitality then the crowns for you. No airs and graces, a real lived in village definitely not commercialised. Arrived here after our day out walking to find the pub filled to the rafters with grouse shooters. Locals kept the place busy all night. The food is good pub grub and the bedrooms are clean... More
