Great little hotel off the beaten track. We stayed in the family room which was spacious and clean. The food and service were excellent. I recommend the fish and chips, steak and Stilton pie and full English breakfast - delicious! Right on the door step is a farm shop and cafe with a fabulous selection of local produce and plants.... I have stayed here in the past and have been quite comfortable in the country pub/hotel with pond and quacking ducks and I do not want to condemn over one visit. However, I discovered on arrival the toilet in my room did not work. I am sure you do not want me to go into details - those of you... More

This is a difficult review to write as my boyfriend took me there as he had been there 3 yrs ago with his son and had a brilliant stay. We all went back this time after a visit to Alton Towers and very sadly the Old Mill has gone very down hill. We have given one mark because we had... More

I find this review hard to accept and believe that this either a competitor or an ex employee. If this is a genuine review then i urge the guest to contact me personally with when they visited. The Old Mill was taken over on the 19th of April 2014, since then we have only one review being excellent and now... More

Dropped by the a first visit having heard good things about it in the past. Lovely setting and, on a sunny bank holiday, I expected it to be busy with diners and drinkers. It wasn't. I ordered drinks from an empty bar. Couldn't immediately see what the food offering was, but took the emptiness as a warning sign, so didn't... More

Just stayed 3 nights at Old Mill. Good location. Walkable to village for food in the evening as hotel menu didn't appeal. No credit card facilities, which we weren't told in advance. First room, TV didn't work. Moved to room overlooking pond. This meant we were disturbed by the late night noise as mentioned in other reviews. Room not cleaned... More

We had our daughters christening party here on Sunday and we chose the venue because of the great food and atmosphere it used to have. Unfortunately the place changed ownership between us booking and the date of our party. I have two massive issues. The first is raw chicken. We had chicken served at our buffet which was a 'KFC'... I have stayed at the Old Mill on several occasions over recent years, and have found it to be a charming, friendly, easily accessible place in which to have a nice meal and a good night's sleep. I have posted to this effect previously, mentioning particularly the friendly welcome from the owner. This time it has been totally different. The... More
