We stayed here one night in order to go to the Colca Canyon. The rooms have electric heaters and electric blankets which are adequate for sleeping. The lobby and restaurant are not heated, but the restaurant has a big,, welcoming fireplace in it. However, as in most Andean hotels, you will need to take warm clothing to the restaurant. The... Stayed for 1 night. Chalet style rooms with small heater and body heat sensor electric blankets on the beds. The bathroom had a heated light but it was freezing. Had to drag suitcases over crazy paved paths to room. The included dinner was poor, breakfast was ok.

We stayed at Casa Andina at Chivay for one night in May. This is a lovely 3* hotel (although I’d give it 4*) in a one-horse town. The hotel is rustic but in a really charming way. Girl on reception was lovely and all staff were friendly and helpful. We were given Room 117 which had plenty of space for... More

Chivay is a handy location for the Colca Canyon, but is an uninspiring little town. The hotel is located down an unmade side street, surrounded by businesses and local shacks. The hotel itself is quite pleasant, the thatched bungalows have been renovated and are quite nice, with heating, electric blankets, safe and telephone. Shower had plenty of hot water. Remember... Stayed here overnight as a family before exploring Colca Canyon the following day. Charming hotel with stone lodges and classic Andean decorations. Rooms are heated both with a heater and electric blankets. Staff is friendly. Lobby offers free coca tea to adjust to the altitude. Breakfast buffet is nice. Upon arrival, we signed up for one of the planetarium tours.... More

This rustic hotel is set amidst lovely gardens full of birds and ammenities such as a heater and electric blanket, to make the stone cottages toasty for those icy high Andes nights. I made use of the excellent in house observatory for some informative star gazing. Service was sometimes a little slow at quiet times during the day and I... More

We stayed here for one night on a tour of Peru. The rooms were little individual bungalows which were very pretty. They were very clean and had extra heating as the temperature does drop at night. The ensuite shower was good. There was an observatory in the grounds. We visited the nearby hot springs which were good. We ate here... More

This hotel was booked by my tour company. It is perfect as a base to visit the colca canyons. Unusually the hotel has a planetarium and observatory as on a clear night it is perfect to observe the stars. I would suggest a visit to La Calera Hot Springs which are nearby. Rooms are large and mine had a heated... More

We stayed here for one night in April 2015 on a Mercury Direct tour of Peru. The attractive hotel complex almost seems to be out of context in Chivay as it is only a small 'working' town. The rooms are more like cottages and there is an observatory in the grounds. Being high up in the mountains, it got cold... More

Liked it. It's a well manicured corner of a less than manicured town. Good wifi, hot showers... supposedly the water in the rooms is potable, although we didn't chance it. Comfortable beds with an electric blanket. Our room had an electric radiator (we found these throughout Peru); it didn't make the room toasty, but it was much better than nothing.... More
