Quaint cabin-type rooms, great restaurant (in the evening), small bar, small observatory with telescope (additional fee), and exceptional staff. The breakfast bar could use some quality control - the eggs are like soup. This property is a very short walk from the town square. I can't say enough about the staff - my wife left her glasses in our room... More

The hotel is comprised of a bunch of "cabins" with really nice landscaping. Everything is comfortable and appealing. The walls are not at all soundproof but the bed was huge in terms of width (still too short for my 6'4" height). The common areas are very nice and there is coca tea available all the time for free. My first... More

Our check in was efficient and quick. The room was clean, well-furnished and decorated. There was very good WiFi reception throughout the hotel, including our cottage. Even with the oil heater being on all night the room was barely warm as the door let a lot of draft in. The halogen heating lamp helped to warm up the bathroom moderately.... More

We have selected this hotel following our travel agent recommendation and we loved it. The room is very comfortable, aesthetic, and clean. Staff are highly responsive. Dinner is served in the hotel restaurant and the food is very tasty. The hotel is located few min walk from the main square.

We stayed here one night in order to go to the Colca Canyon. The rooms have electric heaters and electric blankets which are adequate for sleeping. The lobby and restaurant are not heated, but the restaurant has a big,, welcoming fireplace in it. However, as in most Andean hotels, you will need to take warm clothing to the restaurant. The... Stayed for 1 night. Chalet style rooms with small heater and body heat sensor electric blankets on the beds. The bathroom had a heated light but it was freezing. Had to drag suitcases over crazy paved paths to room. The included dinner was poor, breakfast was ok.

We stayed at Casa Andina at Chivay for one night in May. This is a lovely 3* hotel (although I’d give it 4*) in a one-horse town. The hotel is rustic but in a really charming way. Girl on reception was lovely and all staff were friendly and helpful. We were given Room 117 which had plenty of space for... More

Chivay is a handy location for the Colca Canyon, but is an uninspiring little town. The hotel is located down an unmade side street, surrounded by businesses and local shacks. The hotel itself is quite pleasant, the thatched bungalows have been renovated and are quite nice, with heating, electric blankets, safe and telephone. Shower had plenty of hot water. Remember... Stayed here overnight as a family before exploring Colca Canyon the following day. Charming hotel with stone lodges and classic Andean decorations. Rooms are heated both with a heater and electric blankets. Staff is friendly. Lobby offers free coca tea to adjust to the altitude. Breakfast buffet is nice. Upon arrival, we signed up for one of the planetarium tours.... More

This rustic hotel is set amidst lovely gardens full of birds and ammenities such as a heater and electric blanket, to make the stone cottages toasty for those icy high Andes nights. I made use of the excellent in house observatory for some informative star gazing. Service was sometimes a little slow at quiet times during the day and I... More
