The hostel room itself was fine for the price. Comfortable bed. No heating but enough blankets to be warm enough at night and hot shower (when it worked). Wifi works ok. Just don't expect much of a level of customer service! The problems we had were no towels, pillowcases and toilet paper in the room on arrival. Fine, we'll just... More

This place was recommended on another site as a cheap place to stay. I don't know what other hostals charge in Chivay, but I didn't think 30 soles was a good value for paper thin walls, a minimally maintained bathroom, and limited perks. (I can't speak for the breakfast because I had to leave in the wee hours to catch... More

I spent two nights here because it was cheaper than other hostels and me and my two friends were able to get a private room together. The room was fine, no complaints about that. However I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO COLD IN MY LIFE. I "slept"/shivered the whole night through and woke up with a horrible headache. Plus, we wanted... More

Staff were useless, lost half of my laundry, the locks on the room didn't work, and there wasn't even any toilet roll in the bathroom. It claims to have 24hr hot water, but having spent 3 days there, there was at no point any hot water. For a few extra Soles, stay somewhere else!

We had just arrived from a long bus ride and were exhausted and needed a hostel. The owner, Marta, promised hot water after we asked her multiple times if she was sure there was hot water. She promised there would be, 24 hours. We went to the hot springs (which I recommend) and came back and needed to shower. FREEZING... More

We arrived in Chivay without a booking and went here as it was listed in our Lonely Planet guide. We stayed for two nights in December 2012. The room was a decent size and clean with a modern TV. The bathroom wasn't too small, but we didn't really get any hot water when we wanted to shower, and in fact... More

After two (2) months touring Peru independently, I spent a week recharging my batteries at the Rumi Wasi. Rumi Wasi is a good base to explore Colka Canyon & Chivay is very pleasant town to 'hang.' Chivay's big attraction is the Hot Springs 40 mins walk out of town. Rumi Wasi is a simple family owned hostal, 4 clean &... More
