Manuka Lodge is well located- just a few minutes walk from a shop that also does a great fish n' chips! Incredibly stunning location and an absolutely addictive view! The accommodation was well equipped with everything you need for a self-catering holiday. We definitely hope to come back. Thanks Toni!

Firstly, the view from our room was amazing! We were warmly welcomed by Toni and Samson.Toni was most helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The self-catering accommodation was pleasant and clean and had all the essentials. Lovely garden with lots of native birds to watch. Close to a small group of amenities-shop, cafe, bar, etc- and to a beautiful beach. Great... More

Thanks for your kindness in writing a review. The bird-life is amazing at the moment. So many tuis. They definitely like the trees in my garden. It is nice to sit on the balcony and watch them feed. I hope you saw the dolphins that were in the bay during your stay, and the amazing sunsets as well. More

Lovely host Toni, in a fabulous setting. Looked out our windows to views the rest of the world would be jealous of. Only a 3-day gettaway, but managed climbing a mountain, swimming in natural thermal pools and catching a fish with a handline thrown off a rock at the beach. Wish I could have stayed longer. Toni gave excellent insider... More

Glad you enjoyed your stay and thanks for writing a review. Yes, movie night at the Social Club is a lot of fun. Very cosy and the chef does a great job. There may not be a TV in the rooms at Manuka Lodge, but the Social Club also screens all the big games in a fun atmosphere. Hope to... More

A great place to stay to explore Great Barrier Island. Great views. Close to restaurants but you can also be self catering. Warm and comfy Toni was very helpful. Great fishing. Good coffee and pies at Claris Texas. You do need to hire a car to get around.

I spent 2 nights there with hostess Toni. She made us feel really welcome in her natural relaxed manner. The room was warm, clean and had all the basics including a radio, cooking facilities, shower, extra towels, comfy bed, and a view of the sea and balcony to enjoy it from. No TV but we didn't need that as there... More

We got a really great coupon deal that included 2 nights accomodation and flight from Auckland. So I'm not sure what the cost is for only the hotel. I was actually quite pleasantly surprised by this place. Toni was a great hostess. Room was very clean, bed good, shower good with good pressure and good hot water. There was a... More

Thanks for your review and apologies for the delay in responding. It 's been a very busy time. Yes, when living on an island you are affected greatly by the vagarity of the weather. I don't mind so much when it happens at this end but hate being stuck on the mainland! Hope to see you both soon. More

Several reviewers have mentioned Samson the dog, and we met him too. Unfortunately there was another dog staying when we did and we watched the two of them bail up the other guests barking and growling. Then it happened to us too, with the visiting dog growling and Samson snapping at me.I am used to dogs and this was the... More

Thank you for your great ratings. I am truly sorry about the incident with Samson. I can understand you were concerned, not knowing the dogs well. Mela, the other dog, was only staying with me for 3 nights, while her owner was away and she is definitely a very yappy dog. This unfortunately wound Samson up and, as I tell... More
