Manuka Lodge, Great Barrier Island - peaceful, relaxing, friendly and beautiful place to be. Comfy room, tea, coffee, milk, all the basics provide along with kitchen stuff. Nice view from the balcony. Toni is very friendly and exceptionally knowledgable about the island with tips and advice. We'll be back and recommend it you all. Tip - bring yourself a small... More

Stayed at the lodge as part of the great deal that Toni setup with FlyMySky via Spreets. Manuka Lodge was a great base to have on the island. We hired a car from the airport to help us get to know the island and it really helped us get on some of the great tracks around the island, many on... More

The unit was very clean and comfortable with fantastic views over the bay. Two things I'd like to mention; 1) We had to drag our bags down a rather overgrown path to get to the back of the unit and then up some stairs which made things quite difficult. 2) There could have been some sort of lighting along the... Thank you for taking the time to write a review. You'll be pleased to know that the path was tidied shortly after your stay. Yes, living on the Barrier is challenging. Outside lighting is not something that those who live here use as we have to produce our own power. To provide enough power at night to run outside lights... More

Don't want to complain too much but was disappointed that the Lodge was not as isolated and private as the pictures suggested. The unit was comfortable and the views where lovely, especially at sunset but we're spoiled by Toni's lack of organisation at running her generator in the early evening and blaming our morning coffee which used a few minutes... The reason most people visit Great Barrier is to get away from it all, which includes TVs and wi-fi. It does take bit of getting used to which is why I try to give a detailed meet and greet to all guests. At least they don't have to learn how to light the fridge!! Costing on Great Barrier may seem... More

We stayed 5 nights in one studio, and out daughter joined us for 2, next door. All on one rooms + bathrooms are well laid out, well-equipped and clean - with lovely sea views ((even in bed!) and good birdlife from the balcony looking across the garden and bay. Tucked away with easy access to the beaches and shops/cafe. Toni... More

Glad you enjoyed your stay. The birdlife is wonderful, isn't it? Tha bansia outside your room is a magnet for the tuis, kakas and loads of other birds. And the banded rails are really cute. More

We chose Manuka Lodge on Great Barrier Island as the last stop during our 5-week holiday in New Zealand. What a fantastic place to stay! Toni gave us perfect advice on what to do, where to go, shop and tank, etc. The lodge is well equipped for enviromentally concious people and offers great views of the bay. Would have loved... More

Just the right place for a couple from UK - attractive well equipped studio with friendly, efficient Toni to give us advice when needed. After a day's exploring it was great to sit outside with a glass of wine enjoying the lovely view. Will return one day and will certainly recommend Manuka Lodge to friends.

Thanks for your lovely review. I agree that there's nothing better than enjoying the evening on the balcony. Especially special when there are dolphins in the bay. See you again soon! More

Toni is welcoming and fun and a great source of local info. People on the island were fun and inviting too. There are plenty of different places to escape from everyone. We spent the whole day on a deserted beach on the eastern coast. Almost hard to believe. The lodge is clean, fairly basic and we'll located for a calm... More

Manuka Lodge is well located- just a few minutes walk from a shop that also does a great fish n' chips! Incredibly stunning location and an absolutely addictive view! The accommodation was well equipped with everything you need for a self-catering holiday. We definitely hope to come back. Thanks Toni!
