We stayed at Finse1222 because we were to ride the a Rallarvegen, starting in Finse. Too much snow meant this wasn't possible, but I'm glad we didn't know before we got there, because we might not have come to Finse if we had! The room we had was basic and comfortable, but the view was out of this world! 4... More

Finse is a stunning place with Artic climate. It's all about nature. Accessible by train only and bicycle in the summer. Excellent restaurant and a wide varity of rooms. The atmosphere is partly old style but all modern comfort is available.

You literally leave the train and stay inside this 100 year old hotel in 15 seconds, seeing mountains in all directions. You are on historic grounds in this hotel, being visited by celebrities like Sonja Henie and Fritjof Nansen. This is the eldorado for mountain skiers in the winter, either you want to go over Jøkulen and further down to... More

This cosy and picturesque hostel is a comfortable and welcoming dwelling in the isolated hamlet of finse. It offers a good stay with good hearty food. It stands on the shore of a lake not far from the train station. In summer the area is good for mountain biking and good hikes. Finse is an extraordinary place, it was the... More

My husband and I stayed at Finse 1222 for two nights in mid January on an 8 day trip to Norway (from the US). We wish we had stayed for 3 or 4 days at least! We got the least expensive room we could, and it was furnished with IKEA furniture, BUT, it was spacious, clean, and the bathroom had... More

My experience of Finse 1222 is one I shall never forget. I can only speak about my stay during the winter months (January - February), any other time of the year and the hotel grounds are totally transformed into a mountainous paradise surrounded by beautiful lakes and a hanging glacier of cobalt blue ice. The winter months are harsh and... More

The hotel has an interesting history and appears to be well maintained. It has good food, both breakfast and dinner. Staff is cheerful and helpful. The view is spectacular over the lake towards the mountains and the glacier Hardangerjøkulen. It is a good base for day trips in the nearby mountains, to the glacier or to ride Rallarvegen. Or you... We were herw for the second time, for hiking to the glacier. Situated right at the highest placed railway station in Norway, the surroundings are spectacular. The hotel itself is ok, but not outstanding. Food is good, but the evening meal are not sufficiant for persons coming in from a days hike. The staff is friendly and do their best... More

Third time here and the Food is even better than last time. The situation and view are unbeatable, you just have to choose the best weather. The fixed dinner menu tasted fantastic. Whether you want to ski in Winter or rent a mountain bike and cycle across the old track over the mountain to Flåm or book a guide to... More

This hotel was such a pleasant surprise. We were hiking in the area and did not know what to expect for accommodations. the location is spectacular - right on the shores of the lake. Although the decor was spartan and the rooms small, they were clean and had everything we needed (except a hair dryer, which may be available upon... More
