Yes, while the outside can be deceiving, the inside is what matters. And, the inside is full of surprises. So much better than staying at a motel/hotel. I have spent many nights at A Taste of Home while travelling for business. It is cozy, comfortable and clean. It is also warm and inviting, not only because of the decor, but because... More

If Blind River is a stopover on your road trip, then Taste of Home is a lovely spot for a short stay. I was warmly welcomed by chihuahuas, Mia and Taco, and host Cookie. My room was clean and quite spacious, the bed comfy and the hospitality warm. I had the whole second floor to myself so the shared bathroom... More

I passed over even looking for a room here because of the outside appearance. But glad I read another review. I agree with them. The exterior is very plain and right on the highway but inside is a gem. Once inside, we couldn't hear the vehicles on the highway. Cookie McWilliams is the owner and a real sweetheart. Her rooms... This is not your typical B&B and that is good. The decor is contemporary, very tasteful, and not over done like many B&B's. The entire place is super clean and most important of all...the bed and linens were comfortable and updated. The breakfast was excellent and healthy. For my stay the offering was a western omelette sandwich with a side... More

Cookie is a great host. Her place is very clean and very private accommodations to each room. Ill never stay at any divy motels in blind river ever again after staying here. I travel on the road quite a bit and have felt at ease after work coming back to here. Do not judge a book by its cover you... More

The house doesn't look like much from the outside really, but inside it has been completely renovated. Our room's decor was delightful. The room was spaceous. The breakfast was super. There isn't much to do in Blind River. It seems to be more of a stop over for people traveling the transcanada. So, if you have to stop over I... More

We made “A Taste of Home” our base of operations during a week-long visit to the area in August of 2010. Artfully redecorated in a harmonious modern style by the new manager, Cookie McWilliams, this three-story home offers five comfortable rooms, each with A/C for those humid summer nights (pictures at BBCanada dot com). Cookie provides delicious gourmet breakfasts, which... More
