We visited this hotel with four other friends for three nights in early June. So much has been said about this wonderful hotel, and it is all absolutely true! Everything was perfect - the location, the rooms, the very personal service from Alan and Julie, and of course the food ... amazing! The twice baked cheese soufflé and the poached... More

My wife and I stayed at Windlestraw Lodge for two nights in June 2014 and were very impressed by the superb meals (both dinner and breakfast), the clean and nicely decorated bedroom, which had a comfortable bed and a very modern bathroom. Alan and Julie were attentive and welcoming and the sun lounge was light and airy. The Lodge has... More

My husband treated me to a night away from our busy family life last night. I had no idea where we were going and when we arrived at around 6pm on Saturday night I was immediately excited at the sight of a beautiful Edwardian house, complete with stunning copper beech tree in the stunning garden. Entering Windlestraw is like walking... More

I was taken to Windlestrae as a surprise last weekend, and it was wonderful. The building is beautiful and we were welcomed to our lovely room. Very comfortable with fab magazines and books...had excellent coffee and shortbread in the sun room on arrival, and then a fabulous meal. Great breakfast as well, particularly loved the amazing oatcakes, (bit iffy spelling... More

This was our ninth annual visit to the Windlestraw - which speaks for itself - and it never disappoints. The warm and friendly welcome from Alan and Julie is matched by the excellent service and wonderful food. With the dinner menu changing every night, decisions are deliciously difficult to make but always rewarding. Breakfast has a very varied choice to... More

This small hotel is a real find. It is classed as a boutique B&B but has all the facilities and atmosphere of a small country house hotel. The rooms are comfortable and spacious as well as being very stylishly decorated. There are pleasant public rooms, including the small bar with a log fire and a sunroom with beautiful views. The... My partner and I stayed at Windlestraw for his 50th birthday and it was excellent. High quality but comfortable and relaxing. Lovely room (MacIntosh), particularly liked the huge bath with champagne glasses in the rack, which we had to use, of course. Loved the staircase carvings of owl, dragon, gargoyle. Dinner on both evenings was of very high quality. All... More
