Windlestraw is fabulous. My husband surprised me by arranging this visit for us and some friends for my birthday. We arrived late afternoon on a wet and windy Saturday during Storm Desmond. The shocking weather a distant memory from the second we stepped through the door! We were met by Sylvia who showed us through to a beautifully appointed room... More

From the warm welcome on arrival, to the warm farewell on departure Sylvia and John could not have done more to make our stay fabulous. The little touches that make a stay special have been mentioned by others but I cannot over emphasise how the whole package at Windlestraw - the canapés, service, food and hospitality set this establishment apart.... A warm welcome, large comfortable room and superb food - pre dinner nibbles (we've 'borrowed' the recipe for Parmesan biscuits), dinner itself and breakfast. Great jumping off spot for Borders tourism It's hard to imagine finding anything better in the Borders on all fronts

Personal touches, warm welcome, home baking and outstanding service are part of Windlestraw's excellence. The en suite room was spacious, very clean and well furnished. I've taken some time to put pen to paper on this. I feel like words almost diminish the exquisite and memorable experience we had but I'll give it my best shot!
