We stayed at the Windlestraw last night for our 10th Wedding Anniversary and are really, really glad we did. Despite only having owned the place since April, Sylvia and John have put their own mark on the place and it has been really successful. The whole ambience is lovely, welcoming and relaxing and the bedroom we stayed in (McIntosh) was... More

Thank you for allowing us to share your very special day. We are delighted we did not disappoint and are very grateful for your review. While we pay very little attention to the world of rosettes and stars, we are pleased we are providing an experience you rated so highly. Hope to see you on your next anniversary. More

This is a lovely small hotel in a beautiful Arts and Crafts house. The new owners run the place between them, with John cooking an excellent meal from locally sourced ingredients while Sylvia does a great job front of house. No choice on the menu but note was taken of dietary preferences when we booked. The room was spacious, comfortable... More

It's has been 3 weeks since are visit to Windlestraw and we are still talking about it. The beauty of the location, the warm welcome from Sylvia and John are second to non. The rooms are decorated to a very high standard...and the bath, that is over 100 years old ..had two well positioned champagne flutes... was a beautiful touch.... More

This is a hidden gem in the Scottish borders. The service is warm and personal and the new owners go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The rooms were very well appointed and had character. The views from the house are stunning and we enjoyed having a drink in the conservatory. The food was very good starting... More

Our very first night in Scotland and we couldn’t have chosen a better, high quality B&B. The new owners, Sylvia and John, made us feel welcome. Our room was very comfortable. The dinner was a highlight and deliciously prepared by John (and not forgetting breakfast was equally tasty). Highly recommended B&B and we would be very happy to return!

The whole place is just above and beyond expectations. It is like your own little mini 5* hotel but with all the benefits of being run by a couple who so obviously care....and go the extra mile. It is like being at home, well the home you would have if you had won the lottery. Really elegant, eye for detail,... More

The Windlestraw is everything you hope for and more. John and Sylvia are amazing hosts and they make you feel at home. Daniel, we were only too happy to provide some comfort after your long and difficult journey. We are glad you were able to relax and enjoy your first night in Scotland. We see no reason why vegetarians or guests with preferences should not enjoy fine cuisine and it was a pleasure to look after you. More
