I stayed for 2 nights in room 8 in the eaves of the hotel, the best thing was the view which was very pleasant over the water. The rooms are tired, very small and need a good makeover, there were water stains on walls and the carpet was old and grubby. Not a place to go for a nice weekend... More

Very simple menu, which is Ok for the most part - but you are not allowed chips in the Bar. Everything comes with new potatoes and veg - even fried fish and pie do not have the option. Apparently they make the bar smell... Yet they serve curry. We placed our order along with a round of drinks and 1... More

I stayed for a couple of nights while visiting a friend who has recently moved to Burnham, and having building work done in the house. So better to stay in a hotel. I chose a standard single room, which was very reasonable - bathroom and wc opposite, which was absolutely fine. Room was huge for a single, nice bed with... More

This hotel, pub, restaurant has managed to keep the Olde atmosphere intact and it is like stepping back in time. My room had a beautiful view of the river Crouch and the sea mist in the morning added to the vista. The room was clean and comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities. For our evening meal I was joined by my... More

We stayed here back in October and it was lovely. The staff were friendly, price was reasonable, bed was comfy and view was lovely. Breakfast was good. When we returned only just over a week ago for a meal, it was a bit disappointing to be honest. Pate was odd, roast wasn't all that and the staff seemed miserable. Shame.... More

I last stayed here many years ago and nothing has changed apart from the room rate and the fact that you can no longer linger over a big cigar in front of the open fire like the customer's of old. The proprietor/landlord is still extremely grumpy if provoked but it just wouldn't seem the same without him. On arrival the... More

This hotel is beautifully situated alongside the River Crouch, with outside seating overlooking the yachts etc on the river. Inside, it is a traditional English pub, providing bar meals but there is also a separate restaurant. Until coming here, we had given up ordering steak when eating out because 90% of the time it would be tough. The steaks in... More

Recommended if you're in Burnham and looking for a pub. The bar on the seaward side of this pub is a lovely old saloon with wood panelling, fireplace and jugs hanging from the ceiling. Small and cosy, traditional furnished; bar staff were pleasant. A few local ales on tap. Relaxed atmosphere. Definately worth a visit.

Ate for the first time here in many years. I frequent it as a pub and love the wood panelling and traditional feel of the pub. Drinks selection is good, the landlord and other staff were very accommodating and helpful. The food was average, I had fish pie, it was reasonably priced though and good size portions.
