Sorry I have to give a poor review for this one. As many others say, the hosts are lovely, and the breakfasts are a highlight. There is also a little path just outside the house leading up to a beach. But the following are the issues... We stayed in the only room in the house that didn't have an ensuite.... More

We chose the Gypsy Maven because it was affordable compared to other places yet it seemed nice online. And it was affordable and nice - not fancy, but comfortable, clean and friendly. The hostess made delicious breakfasts with her own homemade granola, fruit smoothies and breakfast entrees that were quite tasty. She likes to use fresh food from her garden... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here for only two nights and enjoyed every minute of it. Our room was bright, beautiful and cozy. Kevin made us a delicious breakfast every morning and even some treats for our hike! We had the pleasure of meeting Marie, who cared for us like we have known her for years. Marie and Kevin are... This was a great place for several reasons. The hosts are terrific, the breakfasts were over the top, the nearby cove a wonderful walk along the beach, close to the Park entrance AND relaxing sea breezes. Defiantly one of our highlights during our Cape Breton vacation.

stayed here overnight during our East Coast road trip. No one was there when we first arrived but they kindly had our names on a blackboard outside the door and we were able to walk in, find our rooms and make ourselves comfortable. Kevin was there to greet us after we came back from dinner and Marie served us tea... More

We only stayed at the Maven Gypsy in Room nr 1 (3 beds) and were warmly welcomed with fresh bananabread! The house is beautiful itself and located in a beautiful location: at the other end of the street there's a short walking path to a beautiful beach (cobblestones/ pebbles) where you hear the springpeepers and sea the big birds dive... I'm so glad you guys appreciated this area for the magic that it holds. It's a wonderful area and I love when others see the beauty that I see. I do try to have something fresh coming out of the oven and hopefully on the rare occasion send you away with a little something too. I'm happy to have met... More

My wife and I were cycling the Cabot Trail and this was our first night. We stayed in a cottage that had a kitchenette so we were able to cook. Still, we had the breakfast that they offered and it was very tasty - home made granola and then a cooked breakfast. The place was clean, the wifi was good... More

I'm still zenning-out from my weekend excursion to The Maven Gypsy! I love this place. Kevin and J.P. were so very friendly, welcoming, sincere and helpful to my girlfriend and I. We even stayed there a week before they were officially opened, and they treated us like royalty! I love the house--it's so comfortable and lovely. The cabins are cozy... More

After arriving later at night, we were offered tea and dessert. It was a nice surprise, and one we really enjoyed! The room we stayed in was nicely decorated with antique furniture and gorgeous quilts. Our host was lovely and quite chatty. Breakfast was great - we had homemade yogurt, granola and fruit followed by French toast and unlimited tea... More

Loved my stay at the Maven Gypsy! Right from he start, we were welcomed warmly and taken care of. The cottages are clean and comfortable (and you can hear the ocean!) I would recommend this B and B to anyone who is traveling through Cape Breton. Beautiful beach across the road that is accessible at all times.
