I travel around the world but for an amazing experience like no other I would recommend Tofuya Resort. We have a suite with a private bath...the grounds are fantastic ... very relaxing. We included dinner and breakfast WOW. Worth the trip!

I have a bit of a different point of view than most reviewers, as I have been going to "Tofuya" for the last 30 years. The original Inn went out of business 5 years ago. It used to be a traditional Japanese Inn, but has been purchased by a development company which now styles it a "resort". Resort in Japan... More

From beginning to the end a very pleasant experience. Arriving at the location in the evening after some hours driving through from Tokyo-Narita with heavy traffic and rain and just switching from the drivers seat into the very pleasent reception hall was and such a heart warming experience experience. The friendly stuff helped me with my heavy bags, my car...after... More

I visited this ryokan with my brother and his Japanese girlfriend. We only spent one night but we all wished we could stay at least 3 nights. Everything is just gorgeous: the setting next to the forest and the river, the many zen gardens, the decoration, the onsens,... The rooms are really big and beautiful with all confort: free minibar... More

Not an easy place for foreigners to go and language could be a problem, but it's worth. Very nice room, with private bath (of course hot spring) on the terrace. Food is somewhat "hybeid" (not typical Japanese), but all the materials are good quality. A wonderdul place to stay for several days.

This traditional secluded Japanese onsen has a 400 year old history and is located right next to a river and a hill covered with forest. Therefore, you almost feel like you're swept away into a nature preserve as you constantly hear the calming sound of the river flowing. I've stayed at this onsen previously, but when I heard that it... More
