Had lunch in a private room on Sunday 1 March. The food was very good and the service ok. My second glass of wine was forgotten about - I received it after I'd finished my starter. When I had coffee no milk was offered. Also The bill had to be called for. The Castle IS NOT children friendly and I... More

My wife and I are currently staying at this hotel in one of the rooms in the main building. Upon arriving the views just took our breath away. When entering the reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. We think the extra cost to stay in the better room is more than worth it. We cannot find fault with one... More

Booked a mid-week winter break as a late Valentine's treat (not sure we'd have been able to afford it otherwise - really good value). The staff were fantastic, the food was amazing, the location is beautiful, just about perfect. My one disappointment was the bathroom (we were in a classic room, cheapest available) and were promised a whirlpool bath and... More

We were given a present of afternoon tea here by friends and were really excited at the prospect. To start with you cannot criticise the setting. Travelling up the drive on a bright winters day with the sunshine glimmering on the warm castle bricks was surreal and very beautiful. Inside reception was efficient - almost too much so. I felt... Stayed over the Valentines weekend for our second visit to Amberley. As before we very much enjoyed our stay with very friendly staff and an excellent restaurant. The castle provides something different to the normal hotel and is ideal for a special occasion.

My partner and I spent a valentines weekend at Amberley castle as an alternative to Venice. In most respects it was superb, but I have to say when you are charging top dollar money you are measured by top dollar standards. All of the staff were extremely nice and helpful but sometimes you feel it is a shame that somewhere... More

It was cold grey February afternoon when we arrived but there was a warm welcome from the staff on duty. The hotel was very quiet but in no way did that detract from our stay. We were in a standard room which was fine for us and very convenient for the lounges and restaurant. The food was exceptional. We had... More

Spent a night of luxury here in December. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Was a special offer via Secret Escapes. Lovely castle with lots of history. Gorgeous rooms and beautiful grounds with lovely views. Restaurant was excellent. Would recommend for a special occasion.

We wanted a weekend break in a historical hotel in sussex and chose this hotel as my daughter wanted to stay in a castle. Our usual weekend jaunt is Le manoire (which is fantastic) but looking at the reviews we chose Amberley castle. What a mistake! The moment we arrived we realised we had made an error once we found... Stunning location, but highly disappointed to find that we had been "upgraded" and my room did not have any period features, nor did it have the nice old four poster bed i expected - our Premier Deluxe Room had two single mattresses making up the "king" bed - not romantic or comfortable in anyway. We stayed in a room called... More
