What a hidden little gem, tucked away in Amberley village. Went on a Friday night with 4 friends (one who was 50!) And had the most delicious meal. Service was fantastic and the two young people looking after us were lovely, nothing was too much trouble for them! I had steak which was beautifully cooked as I requested medium rare,... More

We were not disappointed by our vist to this lovely pub today and enjoyed a delicious lunch, sitting in the conservatory with stunning views. We were lucky to get a table as most of the others were reserved, so we will definitely ring ahead next time we visit. We could not fault the food or service. I am not a... More

We were given room 2 which was a lovely sized room & en-suite bathroom overlooking amazing scenery. Beautiful village and fab location. However, there were dead flies and a woodlouse on the windowsill of our room (& also dead flies along the conservatory window sills.) One of the cushions on the bed was badly stained and the standard lamp and... More

Booked for a Sunday night, phoned ahead beforehand about booking a table and was told couldn't book in until 2.30pm but a table would be reserved automatically as had room for night. Arrived at 3.45pm and was shown to room and then read on literature in room that there were no evening meals on a Sunday and food orders were... More

I'd like to keep this a secret so that they always have a table for me in the conservatory. Wonderful views, with thoughtfully provided binoculars. Had a lovely Sunday birthday lunch celebration, food was very good with everyone being very happy with their choice, if you like sweet puds you can 't go wrong with the sticky toffee date pudding.... We stayed in room one with double bunk beds, very romantic. Room ok but cluttered, nowhere to put things and felt rather like a yha setup. Could not fault the bar and the food, very well done indeed and reasonably priced. Breakfast was a little limited on the cereal and fruit juice front and service slow. Our main concern was... More

Charming liitle hotel. Asked for twin room, they only had a family room which they gave to us. Lovely room with a gorgeous traditional bathroom, overall decor in room very tasteful. View from the room and restaurant stunning, across fields as the sun went down. Lucky to get a bargain break, would love to go again.

Can't fault this place, visited with family and although it was a Saturday we still sat right by the window in the sun room, with good views over the Amberley floodplains. Service was efficient and everybody's food was superb.

Have not stayed here but having recently got married not far from the sportsman we visited on a number of occasions to have a meal. Only once was we slightly dissapointed, this was once out of more than 10 visits, food is lovely and staff do a good job even though it is always busy.

Stayed in the Sportsman for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Warm welcome from the staff and lovely room overlooking green fields and pastures as far as the eye could see. Clean c omfortable bed, good shower. The owner, Mark Gomez was delightful and made us very welcome. Dinner was delicious as was our breakfast. Would visit this B... More
