Dogubeyazit is a town that none of the hotels can be booked from any major/minor reservation portal. This one is recommended by a couple of travel guides. But I am sure there are better choices out there. It is cheap and very basic, with those over-the-toilet shower. And toilet flush is "manual". If you put a small piece of toilet... More

The room was small and the bathroom minute but it was clean, comfortable and the water was hot (though not in the morning) and the wifi was OK. We had room 302 at the back so nice and quiet and a great view of the palace and even a bit of Mt Ararat out the bathroom window. All in all... More

To be really nice it would have to be cleaner and needs some renovation. But overall it was an ok place which is fine to stay in for a night or two if you dont expect too much. Breakfast is okay, but I hated that other guests would smoke in the breakfast room just like they did all over the... More

Aug/Sept stay at the Tahran was enjoyable, albeit not a 4-5 star hotel that many would wish for. It must be taken into consideration that this is NorthEast Turkey, 30 km (18 miles) from the Iranian border! Things are slower here, things are dirtier here, things are more primitive here, so the experience at Otel Tahran was actually pleasant. After... More

I stayed at Hotel Tahran for a single night at the beginning of August. I have nothing but good things to say about the place - I paid 35TL for a single room and there was a view over the town towards Ishak Pasa Palace from my room (not of Mt Ararat, however, as it's blocked by a high rise).... I was heading to Azerbaijan in the middle of winter and spent the night in Dogbeyazit. Following a recommendation from Lonely Planet, I went to Otel Tahran. For the price, I was definitely not disappointed, the rooms are on the smaller side, but are functional, have TV, hot water, wifi, views (weather was too bad to know whether I could... More

No views on the Ararat from any room, not even the rooftop breakfast room, that is NOT a terras. Very cheap, but really cramped rooms, dirty and dirty carpet on the floor. I would certainly not return, nor recommend. It made me shorten my stay.

We found Dogubeyazit fascinating. The last town before the border with Iran, it bustles with traders selling anything you could possibly want, and more!, and always, there is a military presence. You absolutely must never ever take a photograph of anything military. We drove out towards the Iranian border, and got caught up in a bomb scare, having to wait... More

Not many choices of accommodation in this town and this option was pretty reasonably priced inclusive of breakfast and wifi as well as use of kitchen and terrace which had great views. That is where the positives ended. The rooms are colourful, small and we noted that our double room was in a sadder state than other rooms. Carpet edges... More

We stayed for one night. Which was our itinerary. If had wanted to stay for longer we would definitely found another hotel. The staff were friendly but this in no way compensated for the disgusting state of the bathroom and curtains. I had to go to the local supermarket and buy some bleach to try and make the bathroom servicable.... More
