There is a lot going for this lodge and I wish I could give it a higher rating since it has so much going for it; however, some of the problems below prevent me from giving it a better recommendation. First the Positives: The lodge is beautiful, the location is great, the rooms are very unique and comfortable and the... More

unfortunetly, they are right, very harsh by giving a damaging note, but right. at the end of the season, a few things are indeed breaking down, after 2 months at full, some glasses were indeed damaged (of course they've been replaced straight after, but living so far from Quito we couldn't do it sooner). Sam problem with the fan, we... More

We had a very comfortable stay here and the staff were friendly and helpful. With the small number of guests, the attention is very personal. We enjoyed a night walk in the forest and a trip to a wildlife reserve. The food was lovely too. Not the fault of our hosts, but we were seeking more access to wildlife, which... More

We spent two nights in early Feb 2014 at the Hamadryade. The Lodge is truly exceptional. The food was very special, the setting beautiful, the cabana was comfortable and spacious, and the dining and living room areas are brilliantly designed to combine a feeling of luxury with a sense of being on someone's front porch.

On a two week trip through Ecuador, my friend and I spent 3 nights at the Hamadryade Lodge, and it ended up being the most memorable part of our trip for several reasons. 1) This lodge has an amazing feel. It's about a mile off the main road, and is accessible only by 4x4 drive vehicles, which gives you an... More

This lodge is absolutely incredible. The location is set in the middle of the jungle which makes the experience of being there amazing. The food is delicious, the activities are once in a lifetime and the hospitality shown by Sebastien and his wife are first class. I would HIGHLY recommend white water rafting on the Amazon river… it was the... More

My family (13 year daughter & 11 year old son) spent 4 incredible nights at Hamadryade in November 2013. We stayed 2 nights in a single bungalow (which worked fine for 4) and then 2 nights in the 2 story suite which is an amazing and well designed bungalow with 2 full bedrooms and bathrooms. We did the class III... More

Hamadryade lodge is a beautiful, hidden gem in the amazon highlands. The owner of the lodge, Sebastian is so gracious and dedicated to providing a wonderful experience to all the guests. The lodge fits the environment perfectly, providing both comfort and a real awareness of the unique ecosystem we are visiting. The entire staff was helpful and delightful. Food was... More

We stayed in the Lodge for 3 days and wished that we booked it for longer. It is an oasis of calm, a perfect stylish retreat right in a middle of the jungle. Sebastian and Ambre were terrific hosts, designing and cooking meals that would not be out of place in top class restaurants in Paris or London. Sebastian is... More

Sebastian has built a spectacular retreat in the wilds of Equador. The only thing it needs is a yoga teacher and I'd stay a month. We appreciated his incredible energy and enthusiasm. The equisite meals, his restored old truck, his dog.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hamadryade Lodge is a luxurious hotel located in the High Amazon region, near Puerto Misahualli. This ecosystem, even if it is still the Amazonian Rainforest, is very different that the one in Lower regions. We are at 500mts altitude with hills and small mountains. Therefore, the climate remains pleasant all year round (24°C in average), and the absence of swamps allows an easier access to the more remote zones of Primary Rainforest, and of course the most positive consequence, is that we do not suffer from the presence of mosquitoes and Malaria. ... more   less
