Three of us took a family Ryokan style room which can easily fit 5 pp with futon beds at night! Strongly recommend Ryokan style family room if you are travelling moe than 2 . Go for half board - you won't regret it! Try their French style Hida beef menu. It is absolutely melt in your mouth and good grade... More

I checked in the hotel at the late evening after having lots of fun at Takayama Festival on 9 October. It's about 40 minutes far from Takayama by JR local train, and located just in front of the Gero station, very convenient to walk anywhere around the small Gero Onsen town. The facility is quite huge, consists from 3 buildings.... More

I booked this onsen hotel because of walking distance to Gero station and thier good review score. It exceeds my expectation because of very friendly staff and 3 impressive indoor/outdoor onsens. I did not schedule the shuttle bus but the bus driver was waiting with a sign in front of the train station to make me feel good even I... More

Very traditional onsen hotel with history, train station with pick up service, welcome service are very good, staff are nice and friendly, the room size is large enough with big sleeping bed, mini onsen tub inside the toilet, onsen facilities are good with different pool, very good breakfast with many food choices. Only without internet and WiFi service inside bed... More

The hotel is large, well equipped, nicely decorated in Japanese style, with a beautiful pond in the lobby floor. The hotel has a long history; you can "feel" the Japanese tradition. The onsens are clean and large. Massage chair and foot massage device are provided. Room is spacious. We got a combo western and Japanese tatami room. Hotel staff are... More

Very large (800+ clients apparently)in an ugly building presumably designed by east european architects, initially it was not clear to me it was an actual hotel. It is vast inside and crosses 3 buildings, staff v. helpful though kept busy by an older clientele, some speak good english. The room was good, quite big, fully equipped and clean. 3 heated pools, some quite... Was there for wedding, place is quite old fashioned but to be honest I'm probably not the target market. Its not a luxury hotel by international standards but probably the best in Gero. Nice choice of Onsen and therefore a very relaxing stop if you are travelling through with friends or family. We had dinner in the Japanese style room... More

The hotel were very welcoming on arrival and an English speaker took us to our room and explained the hotel facilities. Breakfast was excellent, all the food was described in English and there was a good selection. The highlight was the onsen at the hotel, we only had the chance to try the outside pool which was very relaxing, don't... More

Suimeikan can be considered the "big brother" of all Onsen Ryokans in Gero. It's a huge establishment that caters to individual travellers as well as to groups, and is popular with tourists. Services are very good, but note that the breakfast buffet is at fixed times. If you saunter down only after a deep sleep at 930, it's all over.... More

Really loved this spa resort. Gero is a very nice hot springs town and it has different flavour for summer and winter. The rooms in the "Rinsenkaken" were huge and are practically suites. Service quality could not be faulted and they even brief you on the rituals of hot springs in Japan.
