Very large (800+ clients apparently)in an ugly building presumably designed by east european architects, initially it was not clear to me it was an actual hotel. It is vast inside and crosses 3 buildings, staff v. helpful though kept busy by an older clientele, some speak good english. The room was good, quite big, fully equipped and clean. 3 heated pools, some quite... Was there for wedding, place is quite old fashioned but to be honest I'm probably not the target market. Its not a luxury hotel by international standards but probably the best in Gero. Nice choice of Onsen and therefore a very relaxing stop if you are travelling through with friends or family. We had dinner in the Japanese style room... More

The hotel were very welcoming on arrival and an English speaker took us to our room and explained the hotel facilities. Breakfast was excellent, all the food was described in English and there was a good selection. The highlight was the onsen at the hotel, we only had the chance to try the outside pool which was very relaxing, don't... More

Suimeikan can be considered the "big brother" of all Onsen Ryokans in Gero. It's a huge establishment that caters to individual travellers as well as to groups, and is popular with tourists. Services are very good, but note that the breakfast buffet is at fixed times. If you saunter down only after a deep sleep at 930, it's all over.... More

Really loved this spa resort. Gero is a very nice hot springs town and it has different flavour for summer and winter. The rooms in the "Rinsenkaken" were huge and are practically suites. Service quality could not be faulted and they even brief you on the rituals of hot springs in Japan.

We stayed here for 2 nights. We had the choice of sleeping on the floor or in 2 twin beds. We chose the beds! The beds were very comfortable. I didn't mind the pillows, but my husband thought they were to firm. The air conditioner kept the room very cool. The view from the room was beautiful! Our hostess was... More

I had high expectations for this hotel, as it is one of the more famous hotels in the area. It is an extremely big hotel and a lot of guests. Checking in was a lengthy process, due to them placing our key to one side and forgetting about us for a while, which was a bit of a disappointment and... More

This is a very large hotel popular with tour groups and serving mainly the domestic tourist market, especially the older Japanese. I think I was the only non-Japanese during my stay there, which felt a bit weird. The service was good as in most parts of Japan, although only one lady at the front desk was conversant in English. My... More

The hotel staff are friendly and professional, the staff who brought us to our room brief us in details the facilities in the hotel. We have booked the newly renovated Japanese-Western room on 7/F of the Hisenkau, the room is bright and spacious with river view. If you don't want to sleep on the twin beds, they can arrange to... I really had a great time at this onsen hotel. The room was extremely spacious in the Japanese style - far more space than my family and I needed. The service was also wonderful. The staff were all very kind and helpful. As for the onsens, there were three for each gender. One featured a great outside rotenburo, and another... More
