Always assured of a warm welcome at The Anderson and we love this old hotel full of character. Will be back on the Black Isle for the Scottish Open later this year and hope to spend many a happy evening here.

Just catching up on here with historical trips etc. We stayed here in the February of 2011. We were visiting friends in nearby Rosemarkie and stayed here one night. Back then we checked in without issue and were seen to our room. Room was pretty basic but it was only for sleeping. That evening we ate some of the most... More

We stayed at The Anderson last weekend, having eaten there on previous holiday two years ago. If you like beer, and by that I mean real ale, good wine, whisky and good food, with a menu you wouldn't expect to find in a pub, then this is a real gem in lovely Fortrose. However, it is different, a bit shabby,... More

Stayed in this hotel as 2 couples for last weekend before refurbishment. Had one of the best times. From check in to check out the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Special shout outs for Angus, our waiter on Friday for his excellent chat on the first night. A very genuine and good all-round guy. Also, Jim, the owner, is... More

This was a return visit to the Anderson. Great food and interesting rooms with a fascinating selection of beers to choose from, who could resist a return visit. Set in a beautiful area of countryside with the shore minutes away, lovely woods to walk in at the Fairy Glen and we saw the dolphins after a brisk 30 walk to... More

Stayed for 2 nights and had a super time, really liked the place and the staff did a fine job looking after us and Tulli the Rhodesian Ridgeback. I enjoyed the food, especially the chicken wings. If you like the sterility of a premier inn don't come, if you like traditional with a touch of quirky then stay here

We stayed at the Anderson for one night after several hundreds miles of travel and just before heading back to Inverness. The owner, Jim, was friendly and wonderful. We absolutely LOVED the food as it was a true treat. The fish soup was out of this world and the lamb absolutely delicious. Although we stayed only one night, it was... More

"Two Americans decide to run an old Victorian hotel in a small Scottish town." It sounds like the plot of a British sitcom but Jim and Anne Anderson are real people and they have developed a quirky and delightful place to eat drink and lodge by force of talent and personality. An unrivaled selection of interesting beers and a mind... More

We spent our last night at The Anderson after a wonderful 12 day beach house vacation. Two couples spent the night but we had made reservations for dinner for 14 of our other vacationing comrades. Six of us started out in the Whiskey Bar where the whiskey and beer selection was extensive and the bartender, Demi, was a sweetheart. We... More

What can I say about the Anderson...... Well.... From the moment I walked in I felt welcome and at home. All of the staff went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The room prices are very reasonable and as a solo traveller that was not a problem for me in that (most places charge extorcinate... More
