I've stayed at many smaller hotels including a lot of business type of properties in Japan. When you first arrive you will notice that the parking lot only holds about 16 cars. The lobby is small and very outdated. Floor is dirty, walls are dirty and wallpaper is peeling off in a few areas. There is an area where they serve breakfast daily which is large but closed off in the afternoon so there really isn't an area sit. The staff is friendly enough when checking in. There are 2 elevators but only one of them goes to all the floors. The other only goes to selected floors. I looked at a couple of floors and the hallways were the same...tattered, worn, outdated, peeling, and floors dirty. Now, my room. Same as the hallway... I was afraid to take off my shoes. I think the only clean thing in the room were the sheets, and maybe the towels. They offer slippers as most hotels do but the ones in my room looked like they were purchase 50 years ago and had the wear and tear of some that old. The rooms in this hotel are a little smaller than any other that I have seen in smaller hotels in Japan All-in-all, not worth the money. I can't recommend this hotel at all.

We arrived here before check-in time and decided to leave our luggage and go sightseeing. The staff were wonderful, but the bags were just left in a pile of other bags infront of the front desk, no security or check was kept on them. When we got to our room after our trip out, the floor was disgusting. The carpet is stained all over the room, it really needs changing, the floor is uneven and lumpy and for some reason slopes to the middle of the room. The beds were a little uncomfortable as they weren't straight on the floor but at an angle due to the uneven flooring so it felt like you were falling out of bed all the time, and the wallpaper by the beds was dirty and cracked/torn. The room just generally felt unclean... None of the hotel information was available in English, nor was there any English aid available for the coin laundry (which is located on the 11.5th floor; take the elevator as far up as it goes and then climb a flight of stairs) where the wifi doesn't reach either. 11th floor seems to be an unused and unkept floor, broken lights, open rooms and dirty floors/walls. There are also some long term tennants in the hotel who to be blunt, made an absolute racket half the night, yelling, slamming doors and arguing only to begin again shortly after 6am. Breakfast was okay, a limited buffet with sallad, natto, sausages, meatballs, rice, curry, natto, cereal, okayish coffee and fruit juices. The view from the 5th floor was quite nice as well, we had a nice view of a mountain.

We spent one night here, and for a place to simply sleep, it was fine. Comfortable bed, clean towels. It is not a destination hotel, however: it is very dated, the carpets are stained, and the wall paper is cracked. The location was great however, right on the main street and near the lovely shrine and some good restaurants. Mishima is really lovely town, though accommodation options tend to be quite pricey compared to other towns.

Dirty interior, dirty carpet floor complete with stains from previous guests, unwashed toilet walls, poor facilities, limited free parking lots. The Hotel select chain can only charge exorbitant prices because they are in the mishima city center

Really reasonable priced, that helps to forget that rooms are really small. However, everything works fine and there is clean. Breakfast really good, though sometimes really crowded if teeanger sports team happen to enter same time as You. Free parking for some 15 cars, some spaces really tricky for othet than small cars. Really nice location, several restaurants and pubs nearby and easy access to roads to Hakone, Izu peninsular and Tokyo motorway and towards Mt. Fuji.

The Select Inn is a great value for a night's kip. The rooms are basic but comfortable, and the windows open for fresh air. The bathrooms are the "basic compact" ones which one sees in so many budget hotels in Japan - small but functional and everything was clean and worked well. Breakfast was simple but well- done. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated 1.0km from the south entrance of Mishima Station and 600m from Mishimahirokoji Station (which would take you to Mishima Station if you wanted to save 400m walking...) The street leading from the hotel to Mishimahirokoji Station has a lot of interesting shops and there are quite a few decent little restaurants and a few good bars as well, including a smoky, dirt- cheap but very tasty Yakiniku. The hotel is set back from the street about 50m, and the sign says the hotel's name only in Katakana, so be well- prepared if you are going there other than by a taxi!
