We were one of the thousands caught up in the striking ferry workers/illegal immigrants problems on Tuesday 23rd June and stayed at this charming hotel for only one night. It is very convenient for the ferry and Eurotunnel crossing and is in a lovely setting. We normally try to stay somewhere especially 'nice' on our last night and this met... More

This was a very good functional hotel close to Calais and Boulogne. We had a very good dinner, helpfully the menu was translated into English with the help of Google Translate the result was very amusing. However my chief issue were the bedrooms, well provided, but not suitable for tall people. So many items of furniture were under the low... More

We got at La Raterie via Booking.com and it was expensive for what we got. A stowaway small cellar room in the corner of the main building. The bathroom was put together with awful pink lavatory elements and a tall guy like me...I had to perform human origami to get in the bathtub. A strange smell of kitchen activity and... More

We received our usual warm welcome on arriving at La Raterie for dinner and an overnight stay with two friends. Our friends had rooms in the main garden area, while our room was above what you would call the Function Space. All rooms were very clean and comfortable. We expected to be too late for dinner but arrived in time... More

We have been coming to La Raterie for over 10 years and have seen it change subtly in its offer during that time. It has lost some of its old-style ferme auberge features, true, and it is now on the expensive side for a stopover, but the welcome from M et Mme Coquerelle is as warm and as charming as... More

La Raterie is close to Bologne but in a world of its own. It's an old farm but now with few animals in evidence. The best rooms are the ground floor annexe rooms facing the beautiful gardens. The only downside was the noisy hot undersheets on the otherwise large and comfortable bed. The restaurant is lovely and there are two... More

Old style Auberge, a former farm with the rooms mostly in an annexe alongside a pretty garden. We arrived from a long days drive just before the restaurant was due to close but were welcomed and offered the full menu choice. The dining room was pretty, in the classic French style. The food was very good. Our room was comfortable... More

We were looking forward to our stay based on the reviews on TA but, for us, it did not meet our expectations by a long way. Our room was clean and comfortable but very small and was in the roof with two dormer windows so no views whatsoever. The set menu was €29 which was very expensive for the quality... More

Room lovely, shower good and breakfast very good - lots of choice and we took our coffee out into the garden. Gardens beautiful - we sat out in the sunshine for pre-dinner drinks it was very relaxing and the food in the restaurant was beautifully presented and very tasty. All in all a very enjoyable weekend.

this was a special return visit to this charming hotel, the food was excellent and the wine list was very reasonable, madame and her husband were as always most hospitable, we will return again soon before the winter weather sets in.
