We went to Poronui Lodge with our adult sons, both fly fishing enthusiasts. The resort covers 16,000 acres of rollling hills, beautiful rivers, forests and hiking trails. Fishing on private water is carefully managed so that no beat is over-fished. The water is pristine, the browns and rainbows are big and healthy, fairly easy to locate, especially with help, and... Our first visit to Poronui was in 2000. We were told of this wonderful fishing lodge by a local fishing guide who kindly drove us up to the property and introduced us to Eve and her staff. We were taken with the beauty, privacy, and the friendliness of everyone we met. We booked space for the following season. Needless to... More

My husband and I just visited this slice of fishing heaven. Everything was top-notch yet authentic. We felt like part of the family there and the staff and guides immediately embraced us into their fold. We took helicopters each day a short distance away - high in the mountains to crystal clear waters to catch the largest browns and rainbows... More

Had a fabulous stay at Blake House. Staff were awesome as was the hunting and fishing. A gorgeous setting and plenty of good sightings of fish and Deer. Successful hunting and great walks. We had an awesome outside cooked dinner after challenging clay bird shooting. The food was first class.

I believe there was stiff competition on the sporting clays course! Delighted you enjoyed Blake House. It is indeed an ideal location for a group of friends. More

Poronui is a beautiful place. The property is a working farm with magnificent trout fishing rivers flowing through it. The lodge itself is very nice with excellent, well designed individual rooms. The food and wine is always very good. As nice as the setting, facilities and activities are, it is the staff at Poronui that make the biggest difference. Eve,... More

What an experience - from the time we arrived and welcomed by the amazing staff with a glass of wine by the fire, to the degustation dinner hosted by Al Brown and James Milton. The lodge rooms were just gorgeous with lovely fireplace and private setting. The staff here lead by Eve Reilly, were incredible - friendly, overly helpful, nothing... More

My 12 year old son now has memory that he will carry with him for the rest of his life . We had an outstanding time with exceptionally warm friendly staff and an outstanding guide. Our guide Chris was brilliant, but also it was not too easy so my son learnt a lot from him. The safety aspect was well... More

I visited Poronui over Easter with my 13 year old son to hunt under instruction of one of the guides. Everything about the place works well; Eve runs a good show - but that is also evident in the fact that all the staff work very well. The food is superb and the cabins are very comfortable. Dinner in the... More

My husband had been to Poronui previously with my eldest son and they really wanted to share their magical experiences with the rest of the family. It certainly didn't disappoint. From the very first communication with Eve (to call her the Manager completely understates her amazing all encompassing role at Poronui) to reluctantly bidding them all farewell, our family had...
