Spent two nights here, exceptionally nice staff, quaint room, and fantastic breakfast. This hotel is in a great position right on the square with good parking facilities and good wi fi. The restaurant food is well priced and the portions are more than adequate

The food at the pub is nice enough but we didn't like atmosphere. A lot of locals drinking at the bar and to say they were loud is an understatement. They appeared to be drunk but were still being served at half past 10. We then left to be greeted by a local group of yobs in the car park... More

Food and drink is too expensive. Often too crowded and noisy on peak days to get a seat or have a decent conversation. That said if you don't mind shelling out £4.50 a pint or small glass of wine then it's the nicest pub in the town (you still get the odd weird look when you walk in the door... More

With it's superb location in the centre of Aylsham, with a large car park, incredibly friendly and helpful staff, great beers, brilliant and buzzing atmosphere and with being 'twixt the City of Norwich and The Sea - who could ask for anything more. The food is excellent, and we were spoilt for choice on the menu each evening. The choices... More

We ate at the Black Boys on Friday night as we couldn't get in to the Recruiting Sergeant (sister restaurant) that we eat at on a regular basis and love. Having eaten here before we thought it would be a good alternative choice. Our starters were lovely (homemade tomato soup and calamari) but the mains were disappointing. My partner had... More

The room was comfortable and certainly large enough for a brief stay. Half price rooms on Sundays. Menu goes a bit beyond the usual pub grub level, but is still reasonably priced. Enormous cooked breakfast.

We stayed here for one night while visiting relatives in the area. What a charming place it has so much history and character. The room was small but had beautiful old polished furniture, an amusing sloping floor but well equipped with tea making facilities , tv hairdryer etc. The breakfast was amazing the biggest full english ever !! and so... A very friendly welcome from the staff and we only wanted a coffee, after we looked at the menu we decided to have a some lunch. Aylesham is a nice little town with the Black Boys Inn in the centre, dogs are also welcome. Will come back again when we moved in the area.

Choose this hotel as we were visiting friends in Norwich but also wanted to be reasonably close to the coast. Initially we choose their sister hotel, The Bucks Arms, but the reviews of The Black Boys appeared to be better and their rooms were cheaper. We had room 103 on the top floor, small room but lovely ensuite and it... More
