Situated just outside the city centre of Chester, YHA Chester Trafford Hall is a brand-new hostel with plenty of accommodation options. YHA Chester Trafford Hall was originally built in 1756 and combines the grandeur of a glorious Georgian house with modern, sustainable facilities. Private and dorm rooms are available in our eco-friendly chalet accommodation, powered by renewable energy on-site. All of the bedrooms are en-suite. There are also 14 acres of organic grounds complete with nature walks and landscaped gardens to explore. This hostel is perfectly located for exploring the many attractions of rural Cheshire or getting to know the historic walled city of Chester. If shopping's your thing, the hostel is just a short distance from designer outlet Cheshire Oaks. After a busy day of exploring, chill out with a meal in our cafe or grab a drink at our licensed bar.

Fantastic price for 3 nights in an en suite double bed room. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The breakfasts are brilliant as is the lady who cooks them! 10 mins walk to the bus stop into Chester city centre for £2 so no need for a car. If you don't want to get the bus, a taxi ride makes more sense than paying the massive city centre prices. The grounds are beautiful with a beautiful garden and wooded area to sit in - we didn't see it at its best as it was Feb but the flowers were just starting to poke through. Pleasant evenings after exploring Chester. A glass of wine from the bar and beating my friend at pool was a good end to a nice day! Rooms are comfortable and clean. "Basic" but just a simple way to enjoy a great location near a beautiful city.

It is a wonderful building with lots of character in a quiet location but convenient for Chester. The accommodation isn't five star luxury but it's more than adequate. There is, however, everything you need and it's outstanding value. The staff were great: really helpful and friendly, they really could not have been better. Highly recommended

Value for money in an oasis of peace and quiet. Free parking with communal kitchen, lounge, games room. Lovely friendly, professional welcome from Lisa and others. Lisa would not be out of place in a five star hotel. Food and drink available. Shared and private accommodation also available. No T.V in your room or kettle nor towels. Access to the two former within the communal areas. Take photo identification for every guest !

We spent 5 nights staying at YHA Chester Trafford Hall over half term. It was perfect for a family break, visiting Chester and other places in the area. The room was basic but comfortable. We loved the excellent breakfasts which were very good value, especially if you have a hungry family! It was great to have the use of the games room. The self-catering kitchen is small and does not have an oven or hob but you can use the microwaves, kettle and toasters. It was a very friendly place to stay. We would recommend it to anyone visiting Chester for a short break.

Had another great stay at yha Chester. The en suite room has everything that’s required. A nice and warm comfy bed and a great shower. The staff are great, the food was good value. Getting free kids food with a paying adult’s meal is a fantastic perk. Great hangout area (if lacking in a bit of ambience). Great location. The room smelled a lot of sweaty feet and the shower had a bit of black mold, both of which can be easily addressed with the right sort of clean. It’s set quite a distance from the city, great for Chester zoo though. Families I really recommend this yha. I have hopes for other hostels now.

An excellent place to stay in the heart of Cheshire countryside, with friendly staff who are happy to help. I would return for the setting alone; our room overlooked a beautiful wood and it was a delight to wake up to the sound of birdsong and see scampering squirrels. There's also great gardens to have a wander around with herbs, roses and an orchard attached. Our en-suite room was clean and very quiet at night. A few small changes would enhance the stay. The kitchen is tiny and not really designed for multiple users. There is no cooker, only a microwave (I noticed this on the website but other people had brought food and were struggling to cook) Also, it was missing some things, too, like teapots, cafetiere and there was only one sharp knife. However, perhaps the YHA prefers people to purchase food from their cafe? Overall, though, exceptional value for money and I would highly-recommended this place.

The grounds were beautiful and it looked like they had a lot of activities and the staff were all lovely. However, the room afforded no privacy, no ‘storage cupboard for each guest‘ as is advertised on the website and I had to sleep with my bags on my bed. No lockers so I put most of my luggage in my car and only took the essentials into the room, leaving only my pillow and pjs when I left for the day and thank goodness I did as I got back to find the bed made and my things missing! Thankfully they were only placed in lost property but still very stressful and completely unnecessary. Overall would not recommend for solo travelers but it looks ideal for groups.

Hello C9924Kjessp, Thanks for the mention of being a great hostel, and having lovely staff. Staying in a shared dorm we have listened to the feedback, ensure to why your belongings were added to lost property. This could be from two reasons 1)being beyond checkout and the team cleaning the bed or 2) the bed no clearly marked as still a stay/or moved beds. We are sorry that this caused stress, but are glad the team kept the items safe and returned them. YHA Team

Find this beautiful Hostel, at the end of a long drive….the main building is a gorgeous manor-esque house. Inside is all the main workings of the hostel - kitchen, dining area, cafe/bar. Lots of green space outside, to sit on a bench, go for a wander, and play. Stayed in a Family Room (2 adults 2 kids) - 1 Single, Bunk Bed with Double Bed on the bottom. Hanging rail for any clothing, and shelving. Window looked out onto the road next to the car park. All in-room amenities are basic, but substantial. Spacey bathroom, with shower.
