Been to da Vincci along the nile river. Almost the same setting. Food selection include indian and chinese. Had some biryani and fried rice. Good taste. the waiting time a bit long, may be due to large group of 8. The cheese nan is ok. The close proximity to airport allow you to view the plane taking off or landing... More

Stayed in this hotel for 8 months...it is a great and the best place to be in Juba. You have the view of the Nile River while eating your meals. The meals are excellent, I gain weight while staying in this hotel because of their buffet meals. The desserts are very delicious. The service is punctual, the staff will take... More

AFEX is a great place for drinks and food because of its beautiful setting along the Nile. I recommend the Mexican option on Friday nights - very generous and tasty portions (I liked the beef tacos). Pizzas are also quite good. Be warned that you need to order before 2100 - the kitchen closes early. Be very careful when leaving... More

Really had a very pleasant four night stay in May. Remember this is South Sudan and every thing here is a bit of an adventure. This is more a camp and less of a typical hotel. I had a small "pod," which is like a small mobile home (caravan for the Brits) but is was very pleasant. Had a desk/work... More

AFEX is the best accommodation in Juba. Accommodation is clean and good. Laundry service unbeatable. Of course, it's still South Sudan and the cheaper rooms are simply containers (or deluxe containers, as they call them) at $160 or more per night. The smell from the abattoir next door can be a bit uncomfortable if the wind blows in the wrong... More

I have stayed at AFEX during my business trip to Juba in spring 2012. I was suggested this accommodation by my American colleague: being the first time in South Sudan I did nor start looking for other alternatives. The price was impressive: about 250$ half-board in the bungalow. And what you get is really not more than a basic bungalow:... More

Stayed at Afex in March 2012 and was pleasantly surprised as everything is a little below average in South Sudan. Decent sized rooms that were clean and serviced well. Laundry services are free and taken every morning and returned in a few hours, nice and warm from the Juba sun. The restaurant and bar area overlooks the white Nile but... More

The AFEX Riverside is probably one of the best places to stay in Juba. You have to re-calibrate expectations when traveling to Juba. Everything is taken care of for you when staying at the AFEX compound: security, food, laundry, etc.... I stayed in a riverside villa. The villa includes a kitchen/living/dining room separate from the bedroom. The bed is under... More

clean, secure, friendly and well-managed. it is more camp than hotel though, so the food service is minimal and not overly convenient. Food and drinks served are of acceptable quality.

Sitting by the Nile under the thirty-foot mango trees before noon (i.e. before it gets too hot) on the weekends is one of my favorite Juba routines. The fact that it's the nicest place to stay in Juba is confirmed by the fact that this is where George Clooney stays when he's in town, which is more often than one... More
