From our initial enquiry 2 months prior to our visit, to the minute we were driven to Nelson Airport after our 7-night stay in late December 2014, the owners of Split Apple Retreat, Lee and Pen, focused unwaveringly on our comfort, happiness, health, satisfaction and pleasure. The thing that first attracted me to this incredible 6-star hotel-come luxury wellness retreat... More

To say that we were blown away by Split Apple Retreat is an understatement! We are not "spa" or "wellness and nutrition advice" seekers, and in fact, did not know this was one of their strengths until our arrival. The beauty of this place is, however, just that... it meets the needs of those seeking those qualities, or for those... More

It is indeed very difficult to 'pen' a description of this experience. The gracious and fascinating patrons, Pen and Lee have created an accommodation, culinary and health focussed experience in mesmerizing surroundings. Hypnotic and rejuvenating for the mind, body and soul.

We stayed with Lee, Pen, and their team for three days over Christmas. It was fantastic. They truly make you feel like a guest in their home and we had a wonderful time there. Pen is an imaginative and thoughtful chef and every meal we had was better than the last. If you like healthy, delicious food ( and lots... More

The combination of the setting of Abel Tasman National Park and the world class food you get makes for a truly unique and luxurious experience. On top of that the hospitality you get from the owners is just wonderful. This is a very special retreat and an unforgettable experience.

Some people have a way of doing everything right. Lee and Pen have created an experience that feels like a breath of fresh air. The food, the view, the attention to detail is evident every step of the way. Anyone that has the privilege of staying here should most certainly also stay longer...Just magnificent.

Simply one of the top half dozen hotels in the world and we are two guys that spend 3-4 months a year travelling to some of the most distant and exotic places around the planet. The place is difficult to fault. Attention to detail was exquisite, from the choice of museum quality art work, the care in designing the building:... More

Rarely does one find an establishment that offers a complete over-arching package. Yes, luxury hotels the world over can provide the physical trappings we all associate with them but few ever provide an aura. Aura was the Greek goddess of 'fresh air' and here at Split Apple Retreat the 'freshness' is not just the air quality but the whole ambiance... More
