The South Causey Inn is a lovely, cosy hotel that was a great place to stay in the freezing cold. Great staff who were so friendly and always gavce service with a smile. Excellent rooms that were clean, warm and very traditional. Food was great and the beer superb, especially the guiness. Would definitely go back. Thanks for a great... more

We spent two nights here in Dec to visit Beamish. We arrived Sunday lunch time and as there was a Santa lunch in the main restaurant it was very busy. However we were shown to our rooms which were warm and well equiped & clean. After a couple of drinks we were given a table by a log fire. The... more

We are so glad we decided to say at the South Causey Inn. We arrived on Friday afternoon and were shown to our room (No.5), which we were very pleased with. Room 5 overlooks a sweet little court yard. The hotel has its own little farm and it was great fun to walk around and see the animals (the pigs... more

This was only the second time I have visited South Causey for a meal and again I found the food to be very tasty and well presented. As a group of four we all did however comment on our disappointment with the side portion of veg which was served with our meals. The selection was very poor, we each received... more

Arrived on a Sunday at 2pm - bedlum (restaurant overflowing). Booked luxury double. No lock on bathroom door (essential with 2 kids!) - had been ripped off! Friends stayed in same room 2 weeks earlier and there was no lock then! Numerous blood stains on bedding on single bed. No door handle on fake period wardrobe so door kept getting... more

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in August. The staff are all friendly and welcoming. The room was spotless and very comfortable, and competitively priced. We ate in the restaurant on 2 nights- had excellent meals at a very reasonable price. It is in a good location for visiting Beamish, Durham, Newcastle & the Metro centre. more
