We have returned for the third time for a long weekend walking with friends. A very warm greeting with welcome tea and cakes when we arrived after a long journey. The house is spotless with quiet comfortable rooms and a scrummy breakfast! Lynda goes out of her way to ensure your stay is a happy one and we are looking... More

We've stayed here twice now and have been impressed both times. Rooms in tip-top condition - everything fresh and very clean. Large, comfortable bed and great shower with lots of hot water. Rooms warm and cosy. Good choice of breakfasts and a huge 'Full English' is offered. Off-street parking available and the B&B is right in the centre of Middleton... More

We were looked after from start to finish. Great room and high quality breakfast. Hot powerful shower and boots taken to dry...walker's essentials. Lynda went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay.

Stayed at the The Old Barn for 1 night whilst walking the PW. Lynda Bares has developed a stunning B&B. It is absolute luxury, the rooms are so well furnished you would think this is a boutique hotel. I had tea on arrival after a long day in the hills and also my kit was washed. Which was not only... ...if not it gets pretty close to it. On arrival we were greeted warmly and offered freshly brewed tea, coffee and biscuits whilst we collected our thoughts. The room was excellent, modern and superbly clean. You could choose pillow types (feather or microfibre) and also between a duvet and traditional sheets and blankets. Needless to say a great night' sleep.... More

This iis a lovely place, to stay. We used to live in the area, so when we come to visit old friends we always like to stay with Lynda at The Old Barn. The standard of accommodation is high with well appointed rooms, attractively decorated, a comfortable bed, a very clean shower room, fluffy towels. . . .in fact it... More

This is a real gem of a B&B nestled in the heart of the village. Cosy, comfortable, beautifully presented and spotlessly clean, it's the perfect base for exploring the lovely Tees valley. Lynda is a very welcoming host and has a wealth of local knowledge, especially about walks in the area. We stayed two nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We... More

We deliberately came back, it says it all. Lynda knows the area very well esp for walkers each morning she gave an in depth and accurate weather forecast. Standards are just as high as before. Stayed 2 nights this time as part of the Pennine Way.

We have just stayed 2 nights and wanted to say how much we enjoyed our stay. Lynda is a wonderful host who cooks a very tasty breakfast - local sausages and 2 eggs if wanted set us up for the day. Both rooms spotless and tastefully decorated. We are definitely planning a return stay.

A spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and equipped B&B. We stayed for one night when in the area for my partner's work, and found a very warm welcome (with a pot of tea and biscuits) from our delightful hostess, Lynda. The en suite room was perfect - plenty of storage, well laid out, comfy beds, amazing shower - and breakfast was... More
