Had a fabulous dinner and one night stay here! Could not fault the delicious menu with some great taste combinations. The rooms were lovely and spacious and spotlessly clean. Was a delightful break - will definitely stay again soon!

We stayed here four months ago, we had booked for two nights but had to leave as my wife became ill. This was no fault of the hotel or its food. The hotel chose to offer us a goodwill gesture for our lost night which we were very grateful for. Ou return visit yesterday was a complete success, food, staff,... More

Dear DaddyPG I am so very glad you had an opportunity to return to us and thank you for leaving a lovely review. David (our Hungarian chap) has settled in very well having only started with us in December, I would say though that while Hungarian by birth he has quickly taken on the characteristics of a Yorkshireman and knows... Looking at the talbot inside and out was quite intimidating at first, being young and it looking quite grand I felt like I would feel out of place, but was I wrong! Lovely friendly staff and beautiful, very clean rooms. Only slight downside I would say was the cooked breakfast, probably just my taste but i wasn't that impressed, I... More

Dear JazmineU Great to read that you quickly realised the kind of place we are. The outside does come across very grand but I like to think that this is tempered by a warm Yorkshire welcome form the team inside. Sorry you did not find the breakfast to the standard of the rest of your experience. However again thank you... More

Spent a wonderful last weekend 23/24 January at this hotel. Fantastic warm welcome right from the start at reception. Room (one of the Norton rooms) was classic, pretty, clean and practical, with a lovely view and a generous sized bed. Staff are fabulous at this hotel, very helpful and obliging, in particular; Claire on reception, David in restaurant, Lavinia and... More

We have just returned from 2 nights at The Talbot Hotel in Malton, North Yorkshire. The hotel is steeped in history, having been owned by the same extended family for centuries. The whole of the hotel is elegantly furnished and the log burning fires in the public rooms add the "cosy" factor . Our double room was excellent with a... More

We've visited twice now in the past year and love the hotel. The staff are absolutely fantastic and don't rush you when dining like some other restaurants do. The food is the best we've had when dining out and is better than the Box Tree in Ilkley! The hotel is lovely and everyone is always so welcoming. We will definitely... More

Went for a few days break, nearer town than i thought which is good and bad! Took our dog and nothing was a problem, they gave him his own bed and bowl and he was allowed everywhere except the dining room. Food was fab, we ate in brasserie first night, it wasn't very busy but the service could have been... More

We visited in between Christmas and New Year's and it was such a lovely relaxing stay. The room was gorgeous and the staff made it all the better. We had a delicious starter, main meal and a bottle of red wine which was top class. The waiters and waitresses are all very professional and attentive. The breakfast the next day... More
