Our every need was met. The meal..personalised to our own requirements ....was spot on. Our expectations were surpassed and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience including extended use of the drawing room. Attention to detail was a credit to the hotel team...front and back of house staff included. We could not have asked for anything better. No one had anything... More

We stayed here on a rainy Sunday night and had a lovely, relaxing stay. We dined in the restaurant and the food and wine were lovely as was the service. The town of Malton is nice for a walk about and there are other restaurants, pubs and coffee shops to visit if you're stay is longer. The property has been... More

The ambience of the hotel is great. The car park is rather a long way if raining. The staff helpful although it's the first bar in a hotel that didn't have Merlot wine The marbec was ok but not merlot. Because we were some 30 strong we were put into the smaller tight room with three 10 plus strong tables.... More

Stayed one night (base to see Castle Howard). Treat night for us and it fully lived up to expectations. Lovely room with long views. Restaurant is outstanding. Beetroot salad was sensational! Elegant public areas.

Just returned from Malton. The Talbot easy to find on main road into Malton. Upgraded to a suite on arrival excellent room. Tea and coffee brought to room on request no charge. However, I would of preferred it already in room more convieniant. The hotel is a lovely building and well cared for, the gardens are also immaculate. Some lovely... More

Stayed over on a two night Travel Zoo deal and had a really good break at the Talbot. At check in we immediately received a room upgrade to the Houghton Suite which is one of their two largest suites and it really was a fantastic room. The suite was on the first floor above the main entrance of the hotel... More

My husband and I spent an evening at The Talbot Hotel in Malton. We had booked for a Dinner event, Hosted by Wine Expert and Yorkshire Post Wine Writer, Christine Austin. Our expectations were a sit down meal, with Wine to accompany each course, along with the sharing of Christine's knowledge on selection and taste etc. What we actually experienced... More

Booked two nights with breakfast. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by reception staff who then proceeded to tell us that we had been upgraded to a feature room, the Rockingham, which had a fourposter bed and also overlooked the gardens. The room and ensuite was luxurious. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room, but all it... More

Had wanted to do a short break in Yorkshire for some time and finally got a date in the diary. One of the places I wanted to visit was Castle Howard together with York/Harrogate so started to look at hotels. The Talbot was on my radar due to the chef James Martin, so my friend and I decided to book... More

Visited the Talbot for lunch. The lunch menu is short but there's something on there for everyone and although the portions may seem small to some, after three courses you will feel very well-fed! Everything we ordered was just fabulous. Intense, delicious flavours in the tomato and goats cheese tart and farmhouse terrine starters. We both chose plaice fillet on... More
