The only hotel from Newcastle to Leeds that seemed to have availability for an overnight stop last Saturday night so we booked it and weren't disappointed. After a day's driving we arrived at The Talbot and were shown by friendly staff to our comfortable superior room which was traditional in style and very spacious. It had a little hallway to... More

We stayed here as we were attending a local event. The room was perfect for an overnight stay - spacious and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was first class and the service was excellent - all the staff were polite and friendly. Only one negative, no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but overall excellent value for money.

Stayed at The Talbot Hotel again on Saturday 30th August. We had one of the smaller rooms this time on the road side. It was a lovely room, large shower and we were not disturbed by any noise from the road. We ate in the James Martin restaurant and again, the food was outstanding. For beakfast the following morning, I... More

Stayed at The Talbot Hotel Malton for one night this week as I came up for a business meeting. Upon arrival, I was immediately impressed by the warmth and beauty of the place. The staff were excellent - polite, friendly, helpful and professional. The rooms were delightful - large, bright & tastefully furnished. This hotel is quite charming, with a... More

This is a gem of a quaint british hotel. Upon arrival we were shown to our very pleasant room over looking the terrace. Luckily for us there was a wedding taking place and the harpist set up outside our window which was very nice. We were booked in the restaurant for the taster menu which was very nice, but there... I booked a Living Social voucher as a surprise present for my Mum - £19 instead of £39. Overall we had an excellent experience, the afternoon tea is plentiful with four varieties of sandwiches and five different cakes plus scones and a fresh lemon mousse in an espresso cup. The staff were very polite and attentive but were not intrusive... More

We stayed on a Saturday night with dinner in the JM restaurant. Check-in was friendly and efficient, and our Ryedale room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed a drink in the bar before dinner and ate in the James Martin restaurant. Our 3 courses were all terrific and well balanced, we were full but not unpleasantly so, and the service... More

Ok the noise from above could cause criticism but I prefer not to because there were too many good things to report about. The staff were friendly and efficient , the breakfast was excellent and the whole ambience of the hotel made me feel good - so well done to all. Pity the restaurant was full and I had to... More

Stayed for two nights on a TravelZoo offer, this was a hotel I had been wanting to visit for a while. The hotel is fabulous, The building has been renovated to a very high standard and the quality of fixtures and furnishing is excellent. The only slight moan is the amount of toiletries in the bathroom although I am sure... More

We stayed at this hotel for one night in November 2013 - it was an anniversary gift from our children . The hotel plays up the James Martin link in its advertising and website but , according to the staff , he turns up one day a month . So please do not go expecting him to cook your lunch... More
