My wife and I spend a weekend at the Talbot. Hotel is charming and staff very attentive and friendly. Our hotel room over looked beautiful countryside and bed was very comfortable. Food is excellent, we both enjoyed our dinner - steak and fish cooked to perfection. Fresh local produce is used - loved my rhubarb dessert, so refreshing! Breakfast was... More

My father bought a voucher which initially was for the James Martin experience however as he has now left we weren't sure what to expect. We had the three course lunch that was on offer and was able to pick from either three starters, three mains or three desserts, the food we chose was wonderful looked elegant and very tasty.... We stayed for 2 nights 17/8 and had a great stay. Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a superb room which couldn't be faulted. The bar and communal areas are very relaxing and welcoming. The breakfast was very tasty, especially the smoked salmon and scrambled egg!!! Too tip...if looking to go to York for the day... More

We stayed at the Talbot Hotel for one night on a Secret Escape deal. On arrival we were upgraded and had a lovely room. The hotel is well positioned for an easy walk into Malton which itself is a charming town and worth the walk round. We had dinner in the hotel. The food was very good and we were... More

Dear Lariel862 Many thanks for leaving a review with us on Tripadvisor. Great to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and we will certainly pick up your points on the team knowledge in the restaurant. Malton has had quite a few new businesses open this past year and Groovy Moo Ice Cream have certainly gone down a storm... More

We stayed for 2 nights on dinner, b&b - had a great time there, good facilities, welcoming ambience, nice feel to the public rooms, and the food is really excellent both at breakfast and dinner. Would happily recommend to anyone.

This was our second visit to the talbot , if your looking for lively then this isn't the place for you ..but if your looking for a calm peaceful stay with warm comforting rooms a wonderful garden to sit in and great food then this is the place. James Martin used to oversee the restaurant and has now moved on... More

Frequent diners last year ,enjoyed another visit with friends before the new Brasserie opens. If the new venture compares to the Supper Club, main meal plus a bottle of wine for £30.00 ,then booking is essential. Our "foody" friends from Scotland both enjoyed their fish and chips plus, a very reasonable bottle of wine. Second bottle to be savoured at... More

Our every need was met. The meal..personalised to our own requirements ....was spot on. Our expectations were surpassed and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience including extended use of the drawing room. Attention to detail was a credit to the hotel team...front and back of house staff included. We could not have asked for anything better. No one had anything... More

We stayed here on a rainy Sunday night and had a lovely, relaxing stay. We dined in the restaurant and the food and wine were lovely as was the service. The town of Malton is nice for a walk about and there are other restaurants, pubs and coffee shops to visit if you're stay is longer. The property has been... More
